Aldershot 0-1 Cheltenham

On-loan striker Shaun Harrad grabbed his third goal in three games as Cheltenham edged past Aldershot, in a game delayed by adverse weather.

The players were temporarily taken off the field after 20 minutes because of thunder and lightning over the Recreation Ground.

Aldershot went close to taking the lead after play resumed, but Adam Mekki and Michael Rankine wasted their chances.

Harrad settled the contest with a header from Billy Jones' corner.

Holdsworth disappointed for players

Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth told BBC Surrey:

"I'm delighted with the response and the performance was excellent and I'm just disappointed for them as I didn't think we deserved defeat.

"But the players must not drop their heads because that performance will get them a long way and I'm delighted we created chances and we know we can get better in front of goal.

"They've got players that can hurt you and with one slip of concentration they've scored. It feels hard to take at the moment but we know if we carry on playing like that then were going to be in good shape."

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates told BBC Gloucestershire:

Yates happy with 'ugly' victory

"It must have been a terrible game to watch but a pleasing result for us."

"I thought we started brightly for the first 10 minutes and I think if we'd made the final pass a little bit better we could have had a few more opportunities but we didn't.

"You've got to come and roll your sleeves up sometimes and we were far from our best, but we're just delighted we've walked away with three points."
