Macclesfield Town 3-2 Wrexham

  • Published

Connor Jennings scored a hat-trick as Macclesfield denied Wrexham a point in the Conference Premier.

Macclesfield were awarded a spot kick in the opening minute, which Jennings converted after being brought down by keeper Andy Coughlin.

Joe Anyinsah levelled for Wrexham before Jennings restored Macclesfield's lead before the interval.

Substitute Brett Ormerod looked to have rescued a point but Jennings completed his hat-trick in injury time.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Wrexham player-manager Andy Morrell told BBC Radio Wales:

"[It] hurts because we worked so hard to get back into it. There's no good way to lose. We've got to defend better. It's ridiculous - schoolboy stuff.

"I don't think it's a pen. I think he [Coughlin] got the ball but that a horrendous start for us. We got back in the game with a good goal by Joe but then it's sloppy again.

"We got back in it again and you do that in the last minute. It ceases to amaze me really."
