Nottingham Forest 4-1 Blackburn Rovers

Henri Lansbury scored two first-half penalties as Nottingham Forest extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches with a crushing win over Blackburn Rovers.

Forest made a blistering start and deservedly led 2-0 through two powerful spot-kicks - one for a disputed foul by Grant Hanley, and the second following a clumsy challenge by Adam Henley.

Ben Marshall's fine curled effort gave Rovers hope.

But Jamie Paterson's solo goal and Andy Reid's fierce shot sealed Forest's win.

Reid's powerful 20-yard shot ensured an emphatic feel to an impressive display at the City Ground.

But the margin of a victory which ensures the Reds stay in fifth place could have been even greater.

The hosts created four chances in the first 10 minutes, David Vaughan going close with a swerving strike, Greg Halford and Simon Cox sending efforts wide and Lansbury's fine low shot forcing a brilliant save from away goalkeeper Simon Eastwood.

However, Lansbury was not be denied for long, winning the opening penalty as he went down under slight contact from Hanley.

Rovers were furious but the midfielder scored with a low shot and then doubled the lead with another well-struck spot-kick after Paterson teased Henley into a foul in the box.

Within three minutes, a long throw from Tommy Spurr saw the ball break for Marshall and he bent a glorious shot past goalkeeper Karl Darlow to put Rovers back in the game.

Spurr twice came close to an equaliser after the break, Karl Darlow saving well from a flicked effort before the defender headed over from close range.

But after Lansbury was denied a hat-trick by Eastwood, Paterson skipped past three defenders and fired home a low shot for his fifth goal in three games to make it 3-1.

Reid rounded things off with a lovely 20-yard injury-time strike into the roof of the net.

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies:

"It is important to be on an unbeaten run, but we also need to get some of the injured players back in our side.

"We are missing some key players, particularly in defence. But we have momentum, we have confidence, and we will keep working away. We have been playing good stuff in recent months, we have been creating chances.

"We have goals throughout our side, we have scored good goals from different areas of our team, which is important. We know we can create a lot of chances, as we did again today. We are just delighted to get another three points.

"The market is very interesting in January, we will keep working away."

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer was angered by the performance of referee Darren Deadman:

"Why do you ask me if the referee cost us the match? You have answered your own question. I agree with you. "I am not being clever. You have asked the question on the back of what you have seen here today.

"Chris Taylor got rugby-tackled to the ground, Grant Hanley got tackled to the ground and the referee is in full visible sight of it, but can't give it. There needs to be something done to improve the game. The referee just told me that both of them were penalties.

"We have to take it on the chin, we have to go again. We can't turn back time. They are not going to give us a replay. You just hope that the assessors write a report and that the referee sees it and looks to improve."
