Alex Fisher's late goal secured all three points for Mansfield

Substitute Alex Fisher's last-minute strike helped Mansfield deservedly sink high-flying Morecambe.

The Stags dominated for long spells, but Matt Rhead was denied by Barry Roche and Rakish Bingham poked wide.

Lee Beevers clipped the crossbar for the hosts, while Morecambe's Aaron McGowan saw his dipping effort from 16 yards parried by Dimitar Evtimov.

With time running out, Liam Marsden's long throw from the left was flicked on by Ollie Palmer for Fisher to turn in.

Mansfield climb up to 12th place in League Two, while Morecambe drop to fourth.

Mansfield manager Paul Cox told BBC Radio Nottingham:

Cox on Mansfield v Morecambe

"I thought we deserved the luck. That was our best home performance. The lads were brave and we played some good stuff. That's how I want us to play at home - with freedom.

"It's got a monkey off of our backs, we probably should have scored more and it took until late on but it doesn't matter how you win. It is winning that counts."
