Koby Arthur: Cheltenham dismayed after winger returns to Birmingham

Arthur made six appearance for Lincoln in Conference while on a two-month loan between March andMay 2014

Cheltenham manager Mark Yates has admitted his disappointment after Koby Arthur returned to Birmingham just a month into his loan spell.

The 18-year-old was set to remain at the Robins until January after joining on a youth loan agreement in August.

Having netted four goals in eight appearance, the Blues recalled the winger after suffering a number of injuries to members of their squad.

"It is a call I didn't want to happen," Yates told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"You are always vulnerable when you get young loan players with a bit of quality and his club feel the need to take him back and use him.

"His goalscoring exploits have done wonders for us and hopefully we have provided him with a good platform.

"Credit to him for taking his opportunity and being a real positive figure in our decent start this season."

Cheltenham suffered their first loss in the league on Saturday, when Mark Cullen's eighth minute goal gave Luton their first home victory since returning to the Football League.

Yates added that he was hopeful due to the nature of Arthur's youth-loan the teenager may be rejoin the side but it was now up to the rest of the squad to rise to occasion of both losing Arthur and bouncing back from defeat.

"Being a youth loan we could have him back in a week or two," he said. "However, it is up to someone else now to step-up to the plate and take the opportunity like he did."
