Fulham: Danny Murphy and Brian McBride help manager search

Former Fulham players Danny Murphy and Brian McBride have been included on a five-man committee to help owner Shahid Khan find a new manager.

The Whites sacked Felix Magath earlier this month, with Under-21 boss Kit Symons placed in caretaker charge.

Symons has won two of his three games in charge and has declared an interest in taking the job full-time.

Ex-Sunderland striker Niall Quinn, academy boss Huw Jennings and fan David Daly will also assist Khan.

Daly is a Fulham season-ticket holder who works as a senior director of sports company Nike in the Netherlands.

The five-person committee will provide American billionaire Khan with "guidance and leadership in identifying and reviewing candidates" to take over at Craven Cottage.

"I've got the right five men to help us find the right man for Fulham," Khan said in a statement on the Fulham website.

"They each bring something similar, and yet unique, to the search.

"They understand what we want to achieve and they're committed to the process. And they very much respect Fulham.

"They know this is a special job for a manager and they want to play a role in making sure we get this right for everyone who plays for Fulham or loves the club. And we will."

Magath, who won the Bundesliga three times in his native Germany, was sacked with Fulham bottom of the Championship, having taken one point from their opening seven games of the season.

The 61-year-old had been unable to save the west London club from relegation last season, having been appointed manager in February.

On becoming caretaker manager, Symons, who spent three years as a player at Fulham and has had spells as a scout and a youth coach, said "no-one understands the fabric of this club better than me".

Khan, who bought Fulham in the summer of 2013 and also owns NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars, has already informed the former Wales international that he is a candidate to become manager full-time.

Murphy spent five seasons at Fulham, making more than 200 appearances, and after Magath's sacking said he would be interested in taking the job himself, while former Celtic boss Neil Lennon has also expressed his availability.

Former USA international McBride scored 40 goals during a four-year stay at Craven Cottage, while Quinn was in Fulham's academy before a successful career with Arsenal, Manchester City, Sunderland and the Republic of Ireland.
