Micky Adam's first game as manager of Tranmere came just 35 days after his last game in charge of Port Vale

Micky Adams' first game in charge of Tranmere Rovers ended in a goalless draw against Mansfield Town.

The hosts had the best chances after the break, while Mansfield had only two shots on goal.

Max Power almost snatched the win for Adams' side late on but his stoppage-time effort was tipped behind by Town goalkeeper Sascha Studer.

The result ends a run of five straight league defeats for Tranmere but they remain bottom of League Two.

Former Port Vale boss Adams made five changes to the Rovers side that lost at Oxford on Saturday.

Loanee strikers Danny Johnson and Gnanduillet were both handed debuts up front, as Tranmere reverted to 4-4-2 in an attempt to score a league goal for the first time since 20 September.

In a relatively quiet first half, Mansfield were forced into an early substitution after defender Kieron Freeman, on loan from Derby County, picked up an injury.

The hosts had the better of the second half, Jake Kirby testing Studer in the Mansfield goal.

Gnanduillet later rose well to meet a corner from Power but the Ivorian failed break the deadlock.

Tranmere remain without a win since August, while Mansfield's own winless run has now stretched to five games.

Mansfield Town assistant manager Micky Moore told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"We're happy to get a point coming away from home. They've got a new manager and he's given them a big lift, you can see that in their performance tonight.

"I think a draw was a fair result, we didn't do enough in the game to win it and obviously we got two more injuries.

"To come away from home and not create enough is disappointing, but the positive is we've now gone two away games and drawn them both."
