Goals from Ryan Leonard and David Worrall earned Southend victory at Mansfield as the League Two club ended a run of five games without a win.

Leonard fired home from long range after Mansfield failed to clear a 16th-minute corner before Worrall's half-volley doubled the lead on 70 minutes.

Mansfield, who had drawn their last four games, pulled a goal back through Ollie Palmer with 13 minutes to go.

The Shrimpers climb into the play-off places, while Mansfield drop to 18th.

The visitors had gone close through striker Barry Corr and Myles Weston before Leonard's powerful drive crashed in off the bar from Michael Timlin's corner.

Goalkeeper Sascha Studer then produced two superb first-half saves to deny Corr and keep struggling Mansfield in the game before being beaten from a tight angle by Worrall.
