Peterborough: Marcus Maddison and Jack Baldwin injured

Maddison started the season with Gateshead before joining Posh in late August

Peterborough United forward Marcus Maddison is expected to be out for two months, while defender Jack Baldwin also faces a long injury lay-off.

Maddison, 21, has torn ankle ligaments and missed Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Scunthorpe in League One.

Baldwin, also 21, came off with a knee injury 40 minutes into the game.

"Losing Maddison and Baldwin for what looks like a long time are two big blows for us," boss Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Maddison has scored six goals since joining Posh from Gateshead in August and had four from his last five games before picking up the injury in training last week.

"He'll be out for two months at least. He's torn five of the ligaments in his ankle," said Ferguson. "We had to keep it quiet for obvious reasons. He just jumped over a tackle and rolled his ankle."

Baldwin had just returned from a one-game suspension and Ferguson expects to be without the centre-half for a long period.

"You never know on a first assessment, but I fear the worst. I feel he will be out for a long time," he said.

Posh suffered their third straight league defeat at the hands of the Iron and dropped down to seventh in League One.
