Matty Blair joins Cambridge United on loan from Fleetwood Town

Matty Blair won the League Two play-offs with Fleetwood last season

League Two Cambridge United have signed Fleetwood midfielder Matty Blair on loan until January.

The 25-year-old has played 10 times for the League One side this season, but has not started a game since September.

He played three games during a loan spell at Northampton last term.

"With recent injuries, it was really important that we strengthened the squad with the deadline for the loan window soon approaching," said U's director of football Jez George.

"Matty is a player that we've known about for a long time. We first tried to sign him in 2011 and we've monitored his progress ever since.

"He has all the attributes that we look for in a wide player, as well as the character and attitude we demand in our players, and we look forward to him joining the club."
