Tom Champion & Ben Tomlinson join Conference champions Barnet

Champion made 81 appearances for Cambridge United

Midfielder Tom Champion has returned to Barnet on a two-year deal and the Conference champions have also signed forward Ben Tomlinson.

Champion, 29, was a free agent after leaving Cambridge United, who signed him from Dartford in 2013.

The 25-year-old Tomlinson, who has also signed a two-year deal, was recently released by Lincoln City.

Meanwhile, Michael Gash has agreed a new contract which will keep him at the Hive for at least another season.

Champion, who was born in Barnet, began his career with the Bees and was part of their 2005 Conference-winning squad.

"It is brilliant and feels like I have gone full circle," Champion told Barnet's website.

"I was a young man last time I was here just trying to make my way in the game, but I have matured a lot since then and after a really successful time at Cambridge.

"I am very excited to be starting a new chapter now."

Tomlinson scored 32 goals for Lincoln during two seasons with the Imps.

"I'm looking forward to getting back into the Football League with Barnet. I can't wait," he said.

And striker Gash, 28, has impressed since joining in January after he was released by Kidderminster.

"I have always wanted to play in the Football League and have always felt like I am capable of doing so," Gash said.

"For some reason on numerous occasions it has never quite happened, whether it was through bids being turned down or losing in the play-offs.

"So to get that opportunity with a team that I came up with is fantastic."

Gash's career has also included spells at Cambridge United, Ebbsfleet, York, Rushden & Diamonds, Braintree and Nuneaton.
