Defenders Paul Huntington and Tom Clarke have signed new two-year deals at Preston, with the club taking a one-year option on Bailey Wright.
Scott Laird, Chris Humphrey, John Welsh, Thorsten Stuckmann and Steven James have been offered new deals.
The club have confirmed they are in discussions with veteran forward Kevin Davies, 38, about a player-coach role at the Championship-bound club.
But striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has been released.
The loan deals of Paul Gallagher, Jermaine Beckford and Sam Johnstone, who all started in the Lilywhites' League One play-off win over Swindon, have now expired but manager Simon Grayson says he is keen to sign all three.
"I have made it quite public that I would like to retain our loanees so negotiations will be taking place with the relevant parties on all three," said Grayson, 45.
Keith Keane (Cambridge), Lee Holmes (Exeter) David Buchanan (Northampton), Scott Wiseman and Jack King (both Scunthorpe) have all been released and have already signed with other clubs.
Full-back Jack Ryan and striker Nick Anderton, both 19, have had the option of contract extensions taken up, while the club have given a first professional deal to centre-back Josh Sampson.
