Burton have signed Stevenage defender Darius Charles on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old, who can play as a centre-half or at left-back and has also featured in midfield and up front, has signed a one-year contract.

Charles made 167 appearances during almost five years with Stevenage and played 33 games last season before breaking his leg in February.

The Brewers, last season's League Two champions, have already signed Callum Reilly and Calum Butcher.
