Newport County have signed former Halifax Town striker Scott Boden.

The 25-year-old was released by the Shaymen after a year with the club, having joined them from Macclesfield Town on a two-year deal in July 2014.

Boden scored 10 goals in 31 games for Halifax last season, helping them to ninth in the Conference.

"It has been ongoing for what seems an eternity. I'm just glad that it's all announced and finalised now," Boden told the League Two side's website.

"I met everyone this morning [Monday] and did a light training session myself.

"The last two weeks have been a bit of a slug for me but the management knows that, so obviously a lot of hard work this week and we can move on from there.

"I knew a couple of lads here last season and I spoke to Rhys Taylor and Scott Barrow about the club and it really was an easy decision to join. There was never any doubt in my mind."
