Ipswich have signed Jonathan Douglas on a free transfer from Brentford on a one-year deal with a 12-month option.

The 33-year-old captained Brentford last season, scoring eight goals in 46 games for the Championship side as they reached the play-off semi-finals.

But the ex-Leeds and Swindon midfielder was told to find another club by new Bees head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen.

He could make his Ipswich debut against Brentford at Griffin Park in the Championship on Saturday.
