League One strugglers Shrewsbury Town have signed Fulham midfielder Larnell Cole on loan until January.

Former Manchester United youngster Cole, 22, has been with Fulham since leaving Old Trafford for Craven Cottage in January 2014.

He was then sent out on loan to League One with Milton Keynes Dons.

"He's a player I've been aware of since his time at Man United and I've watched his career progress," Town manager Micky Mellon told BBC Sport.

Stumbling start for Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town, promoted in May, are 22nd in League One with two points from five matches. Their only win came in the League Cup at Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

"Larnell is an exciting, positive player who will come and I'm sure will help improve the group."

Cole's arrival comes during a busy deadline day for the Shropshire club.

Young goalkeeper Harry Lewis has already signed Premier League club Southampton for an undisclosed six-figure fee on a three-year deal, while versatile midfielder Ryan Woods has joined Championship side Brentford and out-of-favour left-back Mickey Demetriou has gone to League Two club Cambridge United on loan.
