When you look at the Minnesota Vikings they're going to have to try and find a way to run the football now with their quarterback situation.

  2. Half-timepublished at 16:01 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-10 Cleveland Browns

    And that is half-time.

Harold Fannin's first touchdown in the NFL gave the Browns the lead before running back Cam Akers went under centre to deliver a touchdown pass Josh Oliver in response for the Vikings.

Andre Szmyt's 31-yard field goal gives Cleveland a slender lead as the players exit the field and the stage is set up on the field for the half-time show.

  3. field goal

  4. Postpublished at 15:56 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

The first two downs go by without any progress from the Browns, as they remain nine yards from the end zone.

Gabriel Dillon looks long at the third attempt but it evades everyone and Andre Szmyt comes up as Cleveland go for the three points.

  5. ouch!

Wentz worry for Vikingspublished at 15:55 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

After taking a few big hits, Carson Wentz was evaluated in the blue tent and has now left the field - his status to return is questionable with a shoulder injury.

That's a major problem for the Vikings, who waived veteran Desmond Ridder just yesterday so only have undrafted rookie Max Brosmer on the roster as a quarterback option if Wentz can't go in the second half.

  6. Postpublished at 15:52 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

Cleveland gamble on fourth and one and decide to go for it and it pays off as Jerome Ford gets just enough for the first down.

Dillon Gabriel then finds the running back out wide for a gain of 17 yards to move the chains.

The rookie picks off a big pass to find David Njoku to gain another 17 yards and give the Browns first and goal on nine yards and Minnesota call a timeout.

Could we see the first score of the quarter right before the break?

  7. Carson too brave?published at 15:46 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

    Jason Bell
Former NFL cornerback on Sky Sports

Carson Wentz likes to extend the play and get the ball down the field and for that you have to hold the ball - and that's the problem.

He's got courage but sometimes a little too much courage. He's trying to get those chunk plays especially over the middle and if there is any vulnerability then that's where it is.

Back with Minnesota now deep in their own half and Carson Wentz finds space to run through but he's stopped before he can get the first down and that's the fourth.

Dillon Gabriel takes the ball again for the Browns as the two-minute warning is called.

Still not much progress for either of these two sides as we approach the half.

  9. Postpublished at 15:44 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

Cleveland think they've earned a first down with Dillon Gabriel's pass over the middle to Jerry Jeudy but he didn't seem to take it cleanly.

Minnesota challenged the ruling and rightly so as replays show that the ball slipped through Jeudy's arms and hit the deck before he properly got hold of it.

It was third down so the Browns are now going to punt.

  10. Sack - Gabriel taken down by Ingram-Dawkinspublished at 15:39 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins gets through the O-line to take down Dillon Gabriel for the sack and a loss of six yards for Cleveland.

Ingram-Dawkins' first sack of the season is the first of Gabriel's NFL career.

Minnesota quarterback Carson Wentz wriggles away from the Browns defence to fire off a long pass to Jalen Nailor but it's pulled back for fouls from both teams.

The quarterback then opts to go himself and scrambles for five yards, before Ryan Wright punts back upfield and Dillon Gabriel takes the ball again for Cleveland.

Just over five minutes to play until half-time.

  12. Postpublished at 15:27 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

Dillon Gabriel gets his first taste of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium field as he's taken down by Dallas Turner.

He gets up to scramble eight yards for his team but it's not enough as another drive comes to nothing in this quarter.

Back over to Carson Wentz, can the veteran show the rookie how it's done?

  13. Postpublished at 15:21 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

Jordan Mason is pulled down with a loss of three yards on the third down and Ryan Wright punts downfield to give the ball back to the Browns.

Four minutes into the second period and we're currently awaiting that first big play.

Jalen Nailor sprints 15 yards with the first play for the Vikings to move the chains immediately and get the first down around the 35-yard line.

Carson Wentz then looks for TJ Hockenson, whose blushes are spared for missing the catch as he's saved by the flag.

Vikings edging up to the halfway line.

  15. Akers had it in the locker...published at 15:16 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell speaking on NFL Network on that trick play with Cam Akers:

"There's some looks that you get sometimes that make you think you can pull off a play like that.

"Cam and I have a pretty great history together, which started with me evaluating him in college where he threw about four or five touchdowns so it's something luckily we knew about that he could do."

O'Connell worked with Akers at the Los Angeles Rams too, winning the Super Bowl. Akers did throw the ball a few times at Florida State, going five for eight, but this was his first throw in the NFL.

Quinshon Judkins breaks free down the sideline to run it into the end zone, but the play's called back for a couple of offensive holding penalties.

Cleveland are still in their own half as we reach the end of the first quarter.

  18. Akers shows why he was a high school QBpublished at 15:09 BST 5 October

    Who saw that coming?!

The Vikings were making progress up the field with Carson Wentz on the ball but it's Cam Akers - the running back - who steps up to pick out Josh Oliver for the leveller.

The 26-year-old was an accomplished quarterback in high school before fully committing to running back in college - but just then he's shown exactly what he can do with the ball in his hand to find Oliver in all kinds of space.

    Game on.

  19. Wentz looking comfortablepublished at 15:06 BST 5 October

    Minnesota Vikings 7-7 Cleveland Browns

    Ndamukong Suh
Former NFL defensive tackle and 2021 Super Bowl winner on Sky Sports

[Carson Wentz] looks excited and very comfortable out there. One thing I've seen [Vikings coach Kevin] O'Connell doing is he's getting the ball out of his hands very quick.

That then eliminates the defensive line, which is the strong point of the Cleveland Browns, and the Minnesota Vikings feel their receivers and tight ends are better than Cleveland's defensive backs and their secondary.

Carson Wentz makes another completion to Jalen Nailor to get the Vikings to the Browns' 32-yard line.

    And what's is?

The Vikings mix it up as Wentz lines up along the line of scrimmage, with Cam Akers at shotgun, and the running back finds tight end Josh Oliver wide open for a walk-in score.

What a play the Vikings have just dialled up!
