Most of the early games are about a quarter in so here's a recap of the key storylines so far.

The Philadelphia Eagles at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is the big early game. Both teams are unbeaten so far and the Eagles are dominating, leading 14-3 in a feisty match.

Another heavyweight match-up is the Cleveland Browns at the Detroit Lions. Defence v offence and it is close so far at 10-7 to the Lions, with a rushing touchdown for each team.

Jaxson Dart is making his first start as New York Giants quarterback this week and his rushing touchdown has put his team 7-0 up against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Here are all the early scores.

  2. field goal

Touchdown - Commanderspublished at 18:42 BST 28 September

    Washington Commanders 7-10 Atlanta Falcons

Wide receiver Luke McCaffrey finds space in the back of the endzone and Marcus Mariota picks him out with aplomb.

Commanders on the board against Atlanta.

  5. field goal

Field goal - Buccaneerspublished at 18:40 BST 28 September

Philadelphia Eagles 14-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield is sacked on third down so the Buccaneers have to settle for a field goal to get on the board at Raymond James Stadium.

  6. Turnover - Lionspublished at 18:36 BST 28 September

    Cleveland Browns 7-7 Detroit Lions

There's no Browns receiver anywhere near that as Browns QB Joe Flacco lobs the ball into no man's land and Lions safety Kerby Joseph picks it off.

    Advantage Detroit.

A confrontation between Bucs QB Baker Mayfield and Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell sparks a huge melee in Tampa Bay.

    Tempers are flaring big time.

  8. touchdown

Carolina Panthers 6-7 New England Patriots

Marcus Jones, take a bow! 80-odd-yard punt return, sensational!

Granted, some of the initial tackling was sloppy with Carolina perhaps expecting a fair catch.

But Jones shrugs off the attention to motor down the sideline for a superb score.

  9. touchdown

Touchdown - Billspublished at 18:31 BST 28 September

New Orleans Saints 7-14 Buffalo Bills

    Defense? Anywhere?

Nope. Three drives, three touchdowns in Buffalo.

Running-back James Cook shows determination to burrow over and restore the Bills' lead.

  10. touchdown

Touchdown - Lionspublished at 18:29 BST 28 September

    Cleveland Browns 7-7 Detroit Lions

A great response to going behind from the Lions as Jahmyr Gibbs' mazy eight-yard touchdown run completes a fine drive from Detroit to level the scores.

A highight of that drive was a 25-yard third-down completion from Jared Goff to star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

  11. touchdown

Touchdown - Falconspublished at 18:29 BST 28 September

    Washington Commanders 0-10 Atlanta Falcons

Drake London hauls in a short-range pass to boost Atlanta's early lead to 10 points in Washington after a prior field goal.

  12. touchdown

Touchdown - Eaglespublished at 18:26 BST 28 September

Philadelphia Eagles 14-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A rugby-style shovel pass from Eagles QB Jalen Hurts finds tight end Dallas Goedert for a redzone touchdown for the Super Bowl champions.

We asked whose '0' was going to go - and right now, it looks like Tampa Bay's unbeaten record is the one that's gonna bite the dust.

  13. field goal

Field goal - Texanspublished at 18:25 BST 28 September

    Tennessee Titans 0-3 Houston Texans

Texans on the board first with a 47-yard field goal from Ka'imi Fairbairn.

One game where it has been a struggle for offences so far.

  14. touchdown

Touchdown - Saintspublished at 18:22 BST 28 September

New Orleans Saints 7-7 Buffalo Bills

We questioned the tackling for Buffalo's opening touchdown at the Highmark Stadium...

Well, the Bills' defensive efforts have been equally porous too.

Kendre Miller shakes off some pretty nondescript attention from a couple would-be assailants to bring the winless Saints level.

  15. touchdown

Touchdown - Brownspublished at 18:21 BST 28 September

    Cleveland Browns 7-0 Detroit Lions

The Browns go for it on fourth down and rookie running back Quinshon Judkins runs it in for the opening touchdown.

First blood Browns in the battle between one of the best defences and possibly the most explosive offence in the league.

Veteran QB Joe Flacco was five for five for 70 yards on that drive.

  16. Postpublished at 18:20 BST 28 September

Goodness me, touchdowns going in left, right and centre early doors...

  17. touchdown

Touchdown - Pantherspublished at 18:16 BST 28 September

Carolina Panthers 6-0 New England Patriots

Tommy Tremble gives the Panthers the lead in New England with a tidy catch at the back of the endzone.

Extra point crashes off the post though. Seems nothing is ever straightforward for Carolina.

  18. touchdown

Touchdown - Giantspublished at 18:14 BST 28 September

Los Angeles Chargers 0-7 New York Giants

On his NFL debut, Jaxson Dart rushes for the first touchdown of his career. Impresive start for the rookie.

That capped a near-faltless 91-yard opening drive for the Giants.

Dart, the 25th overall pick in April's draft, has replaced veteran Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback this week in New York.

  19. touchdown

Touchdown - Billspublished at 18:13 BST 28 September

New Orleans Saints 0-7 Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (10) scores a touchdownImage source, Reuters

    Great hustling or awful tackling?

Hmm. Combination of both perhaps. Khalil Shafir twice seems certain to be downed but somehow stays on his feet and coasts down the line from 30-odd yards.

Early stages going to form in Buffalo as the 3-0 hosts lead the 0-3 visitors.

  20. touchdown

Touchdown - Eaglespublished at 18:08 BST 28 September

Philadelphia Eagles 7-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Or they will try to punt.... but not succeed!

Riley Dixon's kick is blocked and Sydney Brown picks up the loose ball to sprint into the endzone with not an opponent in sight.

First blood Philadelphia in the battle of the 3-0 teams in Tampa.
