Athletics: Mo Farah to defend Great North Run title
- Published
Mo Farah will defend his Great North Run title next month and attempt to become only the second Briton to win the elite men's race for a second time.
The Olympic and world 5,000m and 10,000m champion, 32, beat Kenya's Mike Kigen to win last year's race.
Britain's Mike McLeod, the 1984 Olympic 10,000m silver medallist, won the half-marathon event in 1981 and 1982.
2014 London Marathon runner-up Stanley Biwott of Kenya will also run the race, on Tyneside, on 13 September.
Before that, Farah will defend his titles at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing from 22 August.
