Eilish McColgan misses out on lottery funding from British Athletics

Eilish McColgan has missed out on National Lottery funding from British Athletics for 2017.

McColgan reached the final of the women's 5,000m final at this year's Rio Olympics.

But visually impaired runner Libby Clegg is one of the Scots selected for the world-class performance programmes.

Compatriots Andrew Butchart, Eilidh Doyle, Callum Hawkins, Maria Lyle, Kirsten McAslan, Laura Muir and Lynsey Sharp also receive funding.

But Steph Twell, who won a 5,000m bronze medal at this year's European Championship and made Team GB for Rio, does not feature on the list.

Clegg and McColgan both had their funding cut last year.

McColgan recovered from ankle surgery to feature in Rio and Clegg then won 100m and 200m gold at the Paralympics.

Butchart finished sixth in the Olympic men's 5,000m final and Hawkins was ninth in the marathon.

Lyle won silver in the 4 x 100m - T35-38 relay and 100m and 200m bronze medals in the T35 category at the Paralympics.

Doyle was part of Team GB's bronze medal-winning 4 x 400m relay team, while Sharp was sixth in the women's 800m final.
