I like British Athletics' policy of bringing a lot of athletes here. The Worlds team will be very different and will have a different feel.

ButI think overall, seven medals is about what we thought - we're further down the board because there was only one gold medal.

There's no other way to let a young athlete experience the procedures of call rooms, of being against the top men and women - you have to bring them here and put them in that environment. I think GB have done that really well here.

  5. GB finish eighth in medal tablepublished at 18:25 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Great Britain finish eighth in the overall medal table with a total of seven medals - one gold, three silvers and three bronze.

Two years ago they finished third in the table with three of their six medals gold.

Great Britain finish outside the top three in the overall medal standings for the first time in seven editions of the European Indoors.

There are now less than two weeks to go until the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, when men's 60m champion Jeremiah Azu will join Hunter Bell and Caudery among GB's medal hopes.

Scott Lincoln, who finished fourth in the men's shot put: "I've got to take the positives. I was there in the hunt all the way through. I've flagged a few things tonight I need to work on, such as controlling my excitement levels.

"I knew I could have quite easily put one out and I thought I did in the last round. It's fine margins in sport. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't.

"I have a good group around me and I feel happy, which is a big thing. I'm still not quite fully there. Training is to a high level, but I need to try and replicate that in competition a bit better.

"But that will come - we have a long summer ahead."

  7. 'People expect us to win, we take that seriously'published at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    Men's 4x400m relay

    BBC Sport

Great Britain's men's 4x400m relay spoke to BBC Sport after just missing out on a podium place:

Alex Haydock-Wilson: "Really proud of what we did here today. I felt like in the first leg what more could I have given to get us in a better position. But as a team we stepped out.

"The feeling is disappointment in a strong field because we set a habit of winning. People out there expect us to come away with something and that's an expectation we take very seriously and we will be back."

Efekemo Okoro: "Very messy leg, physical, decent leg I just tried to set it up for the lads. Really physical."

Joshua Faulds: "I just thought what can I do to get up there and try and change that? Got a bit stuck behind the Spanish, I wanted to go but couldn't find the space to do it so I was just sat. Tried to do my best on the last bit to set it up."

Alastair Chalmers: "Really disappointed, we all ran amazing, sucks to come fourth and Haydock got us off to an incredible start. The gap they [Belgium and Spain] had I couldn't really close it at the end. Sucks. It is what it is, we're a great team and we can do better."

  8. 'We always said if there's a chance to go, take it'published at 18:11 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    Women's 4x400m relay

    BBC Sport

Great Britain's women's relay team have been speaking to BBC Sport after claiming 4x400m silver.

Lina Nielsen: "We wanted to be as close to the Dutch as possible and I think we did that. We're happy with that."

Hannah Kelly: "We always said if there's a chance to go, take it. My goal was to hand off to Emily in the best position possible."

Emily Newnham: "I think Amber said before we went out, make the moves on the straights, not the bends, so I was just thinking that in my head!"

Amber Anning: "I was a lot closer than I thought. I did my best - it's tough when you're up against Femke, but I'm proud of these girls and all the other girls who helped us get here.

"I always wanted more individually but to have another opportunity, I'm not taking it for granted. I'm grateful to the whole team and the GB squad for bringing us out here."

I really respect Femke Bol for running the relay - she's always been there for the team.

I think it was a good personal decision to not run the individuals. Sometimes at championships, she is running seven events. You wonder how many years that will be sustainable for.

It was a really good decision for her to back off this winter and concentrate on improving.

For Amber Anning, after the disappointment she had at the start of this championships in the individual, you could see she was so determined. She just charged through and had Femke Bol very much in her sights.

Femke Bol has just got another gear - but what a sensational run by Amber to end the championships.
