London 2012 Olympic heptathlon champion on BBC TV

That is what we love about the pentathlon and it always comes down to the 800m.

It was going to be a battle between Kate and Jade and Kate took it out. She was a gutsy runner who went out in front and held on. Jade did not get herself into the best position and wasn't able to catch up.

She will be disappointed now but there will be more to come.

What a half hour or so for Ireland after Sarah Healy's gold in the 3,000m!

Disappointment for Great Britain's Jade O'Dowda.

As a coach it puts you through the mill. Sarah is such a talented athlete but she has struggled with that transition from junior to senior.

We chose the 3,000m indoor season and maybe it is her sweet spot. She knew Melissa would be the main threat but ran the race inch perfect.

Melissa Courtney-Bryant has often missed out to Laura Muir, who has been so dominant. But she is recovering from a calf injury.

Melissa goes into this as European number one. I don't think she has gone into a championships in that position before but she has all the experience to cope with that.
