If Kambundji was going to beat Dosso she needed to make a move from 0-10m as Dosso really accelerates from 10-30m.

Kambundji chased well but it was not her day this time.

  8. 'I will be back'published at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    BBC Sport

Women's 3,000m silver medallist Melissa Courtney-Bryant to BBC Sport: "I have to be happy, it is an upgrade on my two bronzes but I am still searching for that gold. I will be back.

"I am a little bit gutted, especially to lose it on the line. But I fought all the way."

On Maureen Koster's fall: "It was pushy out there. I know one definitely fell and I recognised it was my old training partner, That made everyone pushy. I felt it in the back until about 200m to go, so we were all on edge a little bit.

"I felt really good. I went hard down the back straight and felt I had another gear. But then my legs just went beneath me. But Sarah ran really well, I am really happy for her."

On her recovery from a calf problem: "I am fully recovered. Maybe I have lost a bit of sharpness but I don't think so. Not ideal preparation but my coach and the medical team at British Athletics helped me.

"I am gutted to miss out on gold but it is still a medal at European level so I have to be happy with that."
