Briton Emile Cairess, who finished third in the men's elite race, speaking to BBC: "It was good, it was windy. I stuck to my race plan and moved into third so I'm happy for that. It pretty much means I'm selected, I'm in the team. I'll be there. It was a risk. I needed to do another marathon so it paid off. I don't think I had the fitness today for the British record.

"In my preperation, I had a really stressful couple of months. My cousin Oliver was in a car crash, he came through it and this was for him today. It's not all about the time."
