World Road Cycling: David Brailsford hails 'historic' GB win

British cycling's performance director David Brailsford hails a "historic day" for the sport in Britain as Mark Cavendish wins the world road race title, external, bringing the team's championship haul to six medals.

Bradley Wiggins, who played a crucial role in Cavendish's victory, took silver in the men's time trial, Emma Pooley collected bronze in the women's time trial and further success included a gold in the women's junior road race for 17-year-old Lucy Garner.
