Mark Cavendish seeks 'amicable' split from Team Sky

World road cycling champion Mark Cavendish has confirmed his desire to leave Team Sky less than a year after signing for them.

The 27-year-old is seeking an amicable end to his contract, which was agreed last October and has two further years to run, as his personal ambitions and Team Sky's do not match.

Team Sky began competing in February 2010, external and was set up by British cycling's performance director Dave Brailsford.
