Liverpool 3-2 Tottenham: Suarez is player of the year - Gerrard

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes that Luis Suarez should be named player of the year and hopes that the Uruguayan will pip Gareth Bale to the title.

Gerrard hailed the striker after he scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 3-2 victory over Tottenham at Anfield. The midfielder says that if Suarez does not take home any accolades this season he would be the "best player ever to not to win an award".

The win keeps alive Liverpool's hopes of achieving a top four finish in the Premier League.
