Manchester United: David De Gea transfer to Real Madrid collapses

Match of the Day pundit Kevin Kilbane describes the collapse of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea's proposed transfer to Real Madrid as "ludicrous".

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Kilbane said it was "crazy to think it's fallen through on paperwork," as reports in Spain claim United did not get the necessary documents to Spanish Football Federation headquarters before the deadline.

The Red Devils, who were hoping to sign Keylor Navas as part of the deal, say they have a receipt that proves they submitted the relevant documents in time.

There is no precedent for Spanish clubs being given additional time to conclude transfers as there is in England.
