Olympic gold and world record for Dana Vollmer in 100m butterfly

American swimmer Dana Vollmer breaks the world record to win Olympic gold in the final of the women's 100m butterfly at the Aquatics Centre on Sunday.

Vollmer recorded a time of 55.98 seconds in the pool, with Lu Ying of China taking silver and Australia's Alicia Coutts clinching bronze.

Great Britain's Ellen Gandy finished eighth but will hope to fare better in the 200m butterfly.
