Andy Murray wants US Open win to inspire British youngsters

Andy Murray hopes his first Grand Slam victory will inspire British youngsters to play tennis and dispel the "notion that British players choke or don't win".

The Scot beat Novak Djokovic 7-6 (12-10) 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2 in four hours 54 minutes, describing the match as "incredibly tough" and expressing a sense of relief after lifting the weight of expectation to become the first British man to win a major title in 76 years.

In winning at Flushing Meadows, Murray also becomes the first man ever to win Olympic gold and the US Open in the same year.
