Dan Evans takes satisfaction from beating Bernard Tomic

British number three Dan Evans extended his unexpected run at the US Open with a four-set victory over Bernard Tomic in the second round at Flushing Meadows.

World 179 Evans won 1-6 6-3 7-6 6-3 to reach the last 32, where he will face 19th seed Tommy Robredo of Spain.

The 23-year-old qualifier from Birmingham says he is satisfied to beat Tomic, particularly after the Australian's father snubbed the opportunity to allow Evans to practise with him last year.
