Cam Schlittler's day is done for the Yankees as Tim Hill comes in to replace him.

Schlittler can be very happy with his outing with just three hits and one run given up through 6.1 innings.

Bradish just about gets the final out of the inning as Jasson Dominguez goes close to a home run for the Yankees but his flyball is caught at the wall by Dylan Carson.

That was an important response from the Yankees though. We are all square as the Orioles get ready to bat again.

  5. Yankees score!published at 20:11 BST 21 September

    The Yankees strike back!

Ben Rice line drives to left field and it drops just in time for a single.

Trent Grisham scores from second and the Yankees level it up at 1-1.

Aaron Judge is caught on the forearm by a rare stray pitch from Bradish. He looks to be OK as he trots to first base.

Bradish is now under a little pressure for the first time with men on first and second and just one out in the sixth inning.

  7. Judge chasing 50 home runs...twice!published at 19:59 BST 21 September

Not only is the Yankees' main man looking for a 50th home run of the season this afternoon, he could also be on for a 50th career home run against the Orioles.

Cam Schlittler recovers for the Yankees to finish off the fifth inning without further damage despite walking Colton Cowser who also stole second base.

Before that home run, Kyle Bradish was again excellent for the Orioles, striking out Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jose Caballero to keep it to just one hit for the Yankees this afternoon.

We have a score and it's gone to the Orioles!

Samuel Basallo jumps on the first pitch of the fifth inning and smashes a flyball into right field.

Finally, one of these pitchers blinks and the Orioles lead 1-0.

Kyle Bradish is once more in full control for the Orioles. He strikes out Cody Bellinger and Jasson Dominguez to make it six strikeouts for the day.

Cody Bellinger then makes a running catch at right field to help out Cam Schlittler, who continues to defy the Orioles batters. At the end of the fourth inning he also has six strikeouts for the afternoon.

    Impressive from both pitchers.

A reminder of how close it is in the American League East.

With everything already so tight, the Blue Jays are also in action right now in Kansas City against the Royals.

Meanwhile the Red Sox are in Florida to play the Tampa Bay Rays in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

A hit apiece in the second inning as Ben Rice starts off with a single for the Yankees and Jeremiah Jackson line drives for a double for the Orioles.

But the pitchers are very much still on top and give nothing else away as it stays scoreless.

  15. Postpublished at 18:52 BST 21 September

A quiet first inning in this one. Kyle Bradish records three easy enough outs to kick things off for the Orioles including a strikeout of Aaron Judge.

As we head into the last game of four in this series the Yankees lead it 2-1.

Their 6-1 victory in Baltimore last night was opened up in the first inning by Giancarlo Stanton, who hit his 450th career home run to give his team an early three-run lead.

The Yankees never looked back, with Aaron Judge adding his 49th home run of the season.

It all makes today's game all the more important as the Yankees have closed to within just two games of the Toronto Blue Jays at the top of the American League East.

And welcome to our live coverage of the Yankees final away game of the season against the Orioles at Camden Yards.

We are just seven days away from the end of the regular season and the beginning of the most exciting month in baseball, building through the post-season to the World Series.

At this point every game matters, especially for the Yankees who have it all to play for in this final week.

  20. Nick Swisher has his saypublished at 15:26 BST 21 September

Nick Swisher helped the New York Yankees win the World Series in 2009 and briefly played in the minor leagues with Aaron Judge. He is now an MLB media analyst and a special advisor to the Yankees.

What’s it like to play for the Yankees?

Swisher told BBC Sport: “When you play against the New York Yankees, you bring your A game. But that’s what’s great about being a New York Yankee. There’s an ‘X’ on your back and you’ve earned the right to have that, 27-time World Series champions.

“Yeah, all I hear is ‘it’s 2009 when you last won’, but that doesn’t take away from any of the success we’ve had as an organisation from the start.

“There’s so many iconic guys who helped put the Yankees on the map, and it’s our job as an organisation, and our players’ job, to go out and put us on the map again.”

Aaron Judge’s the New York Yankees

What makes Judge so important to Yankees?

Aaron Judge’s wife gave birth to their first child in January and at the end of July he had a spell on the Yankees’ 10-day injured list because of a hip strain.

“Most of the time, when someone has a baby mid-season, there’s a dip in production because you’re waking up at all hours of the night, you’re not on your normal routine, and what did Aaron Judge do in the first half of the season? He hit almost .400 (batting average).

“I think that just goes to show how tremendous of a baseball player he is, how tremendous a leader he is, and how important he is to the Yankees’ organisation.

“He’s huge for the Yankees. Any time he’s not been in the line-up, there’s been a little dip. They are not necessarily as feared, they are not the team that they need to be.

“He doesn’t only have a great approach to the game and great work ethic, he has tremendous power. Normal fly balls for Aaron are home runs.

“Pitchers today throw at 100, 105mph, and every one of them is coming at Aaron with their best stuff, so for him to lead the league in home runs – before he got injured and the Big Dumper over in Seattle (Cal Raleigh) took over – and to have the batting average and on-base percentage he does, it’s unbelievable.

“You just don’t see a 6ft 7in man, who weighs 280lbs, with the hand-eye co-ordination to hit for a high batting average. He can hit the ball out of the ballpark but his bat-to-ball skills are also second to none.”

    Image caption,

Manager Aaron Boone of the New York Yankees

What would it mean for Yankees to win World Series this year?

“The one thing I want for Aaron Judge is to win a World Series because in New York, the MVPs, the All Stars, the Silver Sluggers – yeah, all those accolades are cool, but being able to win a World Series in New York puts you on the map forever.

“I want (manager) Aaron Boone to get a World Series ring as well. He’s been there a few years now, he’s been knocking on that door. Obviously, I wish things would’ve gone differently in the World Series last year but it is what it is. I think we’ve learned from it, I think we’re moving forward, and hopefully we get that opportunity to play in that game again.

“We had a lot of pitchers that were pitching at different spots where they’re not as comfortable, but the three power arms that we brought over at the trade deadline really helped us moving down the stretch (this season). Nobody’s run away with the American League so it’s wide open.”
