Down the stretch, Nick Ball is going to get to the aging TJ Doheny. He's going to be easier to get to now. Nick hasn't been as relentless as we're used to seeing.

  3. Round sevenpublished at 23:08 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

Ball continues to up the ante and has lots of energy to burn.

Doheny seems to be in defence mode, trying to use his larger frame to push Ball back but he isn't doing much in terms of damage.

Ball lands clean with a straight left and there is some marking around the right eye of Doheny.

I think Doheny is feeling the pace. He was taking every second on his stool before standing back up.

The referee just told Nick Ball he'll take a point off next time he throws Doheny down [again].

  6. Round sixpublished at 23:03 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

A roar from the crowd as Ball backs Doheny into the corner and starts to unload. Doheny eventually wriggles out of danger and launches an attack of his own in response.

A brief break as Doheny's shoelace comes undone and the referee has to come to his aid.

Doheny is then thrown to the canvas by Ball. There's still a fair bit of niggle between these two.

Ball steps on the gas in the final 30 seconds and a right hand has Doheny stumbling. He seemed hurt there but recovers.

For what it's worth, I've got Ball leading by four rounds to two.

I had it all square after four. TJ has had a really good start. We're not seeing the relentless pressure we're used to seeing from Nick Ball but I think that's down to TJ. He hits harder than he looks.

  8. Postpublished at 22:59 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

A huge contrast in the corners between rounds.

Ball stays on his feet and comes out to the centre of the ring with time to spare as Doheny is on the stool, towel on his head and breathing heavily.

It's clever boxing from the challenger on the back foot.

  10. Round fivepublished at 22:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

Ball is so precise with his shots. He lands a sharp one-two and steps out of range.

Doheny comes back with a cross-hook but Ball shrugs his shoulders and shakes his head.

Ball is doing a really good job of targeting the body to close the distance before coming up top when he is in range.

Another all-action finish to the round as Ball lands cleanly before Doheny responds. The tightest round since the first.

  11. Round fourpublished at 22:54 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

Ball starts the round as he ended the last with more good work to the head. Doheny looks to be struggling with the speed of the man 10 years his junior.

Ball might be the smaller man but he's used to that and closes the range well to get inside and score.

"Once you're punching, he's not going to punch back," Doheny's corner say between rounds.

Most of the output so far has come from Ball.

Nick Ball has started this round a bit quicker and throwing more shots. Doheny wants it slower and I think that would suit him.

  14. Round threepublished at 22:50 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

Doheny isn't quite reaching Charlie Edwards levels of evasion (see here) but he attempts to stay on the outside with Ball doing the chasing.

Ball sticks a left to the body and follows with a right to the head. Ball applies pressure and Doheny needs to decide what kind of fight he wants.

Ball goes on the attack at the end of the round with a looping right, his best shot of the night. Doheny will be delighted to hear that bell.

  15. Round twopublished at 22:46 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

The referee had a word with the two fighters to warn them about their behaviour as they returned for round two but Ball seems lucky to still be in this and not disqualified.

Doheny talks to Ball as the opening seconds pass by and the referee tells him to get on with boxing. This is getting spicy.

Ball starts to find his rhythm. He lands a right and starts to apply the pressure he is known for. Ball finds a way through with a one-two and the crowd reacts - Doheny puts his arms up to signal he didn't feel it.

That's naughty, isn't it? He's frustrated because Doheny is holding him.

There are some antics at the end of the round!

Doheny had Ball in a headlock after the bell rang and wasn't letting go. Once Ball escaped he kicked Doheny and the Irishman fell to the canvas.

    What is going on here?

  18. Round onepublished at 22:42 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

A feeling each other out kind of round.

Doheny lands some good combinations as he backs Ball up on to the ropes.

Doheny has got decent boxing skills and has only been beaten by good fighters so it could be a tricky evening for Nick Ball.

A TJ Doheny really would be an upset.
