If you're going to walk to the ring dressed like this then you need to back it up with a performance.

Cuba's Jadier Herrera certainly did earlier tonight.

Herrera put in a dominant performance and stopped Jose Enriquez.

The 22-year-old, who also fought in Liverpool in October, extended his unbeaten record to 17, with 15 of those victories coming inside the distance.

It was obviously down to the tactics of Charlie Edwards. I actually scored it a draw. I thought he was going to slow down.

There was one guy trying to fight tonight and that was Andrew Cain. I think he deserved it.

Charlie Edwards did edge his way back into the contest in the last few rounds, but the right man gets the decision.

I'm not sure I'd want to be in this arena with these fans if Edwards was given the nod.

  5. Cain comes out on toppublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

Cain beats Edwards by split decision

Considering Charlie Edwards refused to engage for large parts, it's a tight decision in the end.

Here's how the judges saw it. 115-114 and 116-112 for Cain with one scoring it 115-113 in favour of Edwards.

  6. Round twelvepublished at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Cain v Edwards

Charlie Edwards lands a couple of jabs through the three minutes but it's more of the same with evasion tactics from the Londoner.

The crowd make their feelings clear with loud boos in support of their home fighter Andrew Cain.

Both fighters end the round with their arms up in the air and confident that they have won.

    Cain v Edwards

TNT, who are broadcasting this fight, have just flashed up an unofficial scorecard from former world champion Carl Frampton's scorecard.

Frampton has given Cain six rounds and Edwards five, including each of the last three.

  8. Round elevenpublished at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Cain v Edwards

Charlie Edwards continues to stay on the outside, throwing very infrequent jabs and letting the seconds tick away.

It feels like this is going to be a comfortable win for Andrew Cain. He has been holding the centre of the ring and showing more aggression.

  9. Round tenpublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Cain v Edwards

We remain on exactly the same the path and it's starting to look like this fight will just fizzle out.

Andrew Cain complains to the referee and there is a brief time out called with a warning in the direction of Charlie Edwards. He is urged to engage.

    Just two rounds to go.

I don't think Charlie Edwards is winning the fight so I think he has to change something to win the fight.

When Charlie Edwards does eventually throw, it's a single jab or hook with very little leverage or accuracy.

This is a poor showing. More jeers ring around the arena.

Trainer Stephen Smith has just told Charlie Edwards that he "needs to let his hands go" and that it is "showtime" now.

Will Charlie Edwards start to engage?

This isn't the greatest advert for boxing.

There's a Matchroom Boxing card at Altrincham Ice Rink later this month, perhaps Charlie Edwards would be better suited gliding across the ring there.

  14. Round sevenpublished at 21:27 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Cain v Edwards

If Charlie Edwards' gameplan was to stay on the outside and tire out Andrew Cain with evasion tactics for the first half of the fight then he needs to spring into action now.

Edwards begins the round with a jab and then retreats.

It's more of the same unfortunately.

  15. 'Statement performance'published at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Ball v Doheny

Nick Ball has taken everything in his stride since getting his first shot at a world title 12 months ago.

Ball was unable to take the WBC featherweight title from Rey Vargas in a split-decision draw.

The Liverpudlian bounced back three months later to beat Raymond Ford for the WBA belt and defended against Ronny Rios in December.

He is being hailed as the bright hope of British boxing - IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois is the only other male British world title-holder - but Ball feels he needs to make a statement tonight.

A fight with four-weight world champion Naoya Inoue, who beat TJ Doheny in September, is on the horizon and Ball wants to better the performance of his Japanese rival.

"I'm always looking to do a better job, put a statement performance on. Especially in Liverpool," Ball said.

"I don't care what [Doheny] has done, who has been in with him, what he done in his last fight, it's all irrelevant."

    Cain v Edwards

    Kal Sajad
BBC Sport at M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool

There was a lot of talk from Charlie Edwards - who is being booed by the Liverpool crowd - in fight week.

In preparation for this fight, Edwards had been watching videos of his brother, Sunny Edwards, beating Andrew Cain as an amateur in the 2014 ABA Youth Final.

  17. Round fivepublished at 21:20 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Cain v Edwards

Andrew Cain is not a happy bunny.

The Liverpudlian is getting very frustrated with Charlie Edwards' tactics and his eagerness to keep circling around the outside of the ring as Kal mentioned.

Cain has just ended the fifth round by imitating his dance partner and backing off to the opposite side of the ring.

Could we see these both on Strictly Come Dancing soon?

  18. Postpublished at 21:17 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Kal Sajad

Andrew Cain asked Charlie Edwards at the end of the fourth if he fancies staying still for just a second. He's not stopped circling round the ring. It looks pretty, but he could with landing something of note soon.

  19. Round threepublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March

    Cain v Edwards

Andrew Cain is doing all the chasing as Charlie Edwards consistently finds his back to the ropes and tries to get out of danger.

There's not much coming back from Edwards and Cain starts to showboat with his hands behind his back as he stalks his opponent.

Edwards had some blood pouring from his hairline at the end of the first round but that seems to have been patched up pretty well.

We've still got a little bit to run until we get to the main event between Nick Ball and TJ Doheny, but that means you just get to spend more of your Saturday night in our company!

An all-British bout between former WBO flyweight champion Charlie Edwards and Andrew Cain has just got under way.

Jack Turner and Ryan Farrag follow on in the co-main and then Ball will be on his way down the ramp.
