'Winner' Usyk won't reveal Fury secrets before rematch

  1. Postpublished at 17:03 Greenwich Mean Time

We have two stubborn fighters on our hands here.

It's like Married at First Sight when they make the couples stare into each others' eyes for an uncomfortable amount of time to help build their relationship.

  2. Postpublished at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time

Someone needs to bring this to and end.

Usyk's neck is going to be in all sorts of pain looking up at Fury for this long.

    It's still happening!

  3. Postpublished at 16:59 Greenwich Mean Time

You forget just how big Fury is. He's towering over Usyk,

By the way, the face-off is still going on.

I'm going to get an official time for the length but this has to be making a late push to get into the 2024 Guinness Book of Records.

There are no words being exchanged. Just a silent stare.

  4. Postpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time

That's not the case this time though.

They stand face-to-face... well Usyk eyes are at about the level of Fury's chin.

    Both refuse to break away.

It's going on and on and on and...

  5. Postpublished at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time

    It's tense.

Both fighters are ready for the face-off but they are being made to wait until the broadcast is ready for them.

    It's also slightly awkward.

Remember in May, Fury refused to look at Usyk.

    News conference is done.

    It's face-off time!

Bob Arum moves on to talk about Oleksandr Usyk:

"Personally, like many Americans, I'm so proud of the Ukrainian people and what they have accoomplished. Never count out a Ukrainian.

"Usyk typifies the strength of Ukraine. He's in with one of the best heavyweights Tyson Fury on Saturday and I'm confident Tyson will win."

    More from Bob Arum:

"Looking to the fight, I'm not going to talk about great fights and great fighters because it will be a great fight and these are great fighters.

    "I'm not only Tyson Fury's co-promoter but I'm a Tyson Fury fan.

"For anyone who watched the second Fury-Wilder fight, remember the first was a draw, Tyson knew what he had to do and he won that second fight in a one-sided way.

"I'm looking forward to him fighting in that way and being successful on Saturday. That being said, he's fighting a tough, tough, skilled Ukrainian."

Top Rank's Bob Arum, who promotes Tyson Fury, is next on the microphone.

A brave call as he tells everyone, in his thick American accent, "this is how you speak English, not like my British friends. There is no accent at all, it's all plain syllables".

"I'm not looking past Demsey. For me, this is a world title fight."

    Usyk v Fury 2

    Usyk v Fury 2

After sharing 12 tough rounds in May, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury - both full of character - seem to have a huge amount of respect for each other.

October's news conference felt more like a reunion of old friends rather than a meeting between two foes.

Despite entering the room dressed like Agent 47 from the Hitman video gaming series, Usyk offered no threat and even took the opportunity to get Fury to sign a couple of images from their first bout.

  15. 'Victory at all costs'published at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time

British heavyweight Johnny Fisher is up next:

"I would expect Dave Allen to be ready to go.

"I've been training for four long years and this is my time to show people what I can do.

"There's a possibility of carnage. I'm doing it for my family and for the people who are travelling over. They give me the strength.

"Winning is all that matters. Victory at all costs."

"They are the two best heavyweights of this generation. I've shared the ring with them [sparring] for many rounds.

"I'm a huge fan of both. I personally foresee a Fury win, but these two are the greatest heavyweight of my time and I'm fortunate to be here and witness it."

British heavyweight Dave Allen, who faces Johnny Fisher:

"I've got into career-best shape. I was given an excellent opportunity.

"He should be [nervous], we both should be.

"I've got a son and if he grows up to be half the man that Johnny Fisher is then I'll be happy."
