Now, I'm not going to hail tonight's main event as "the greatest sporting rivalry" but it's a pretty intriguing one and has garnered plenty of interest from the general public.

My wife, who would admit she is not a boxing fan, even asked me about it yesterday.

Stepping away from this fight, what would you throw out as the greatest rivalry in sport?

Here's a reminder of how you can get in touch.

  3. Teams clash over padding in glovespublished at 21:03 British Summer Time 26 April

On Friday, members of Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr’s teams were involved in a very heated debate over boxing gloves which almost ended up getting physical.

Eubank's advisor, Mazhar Majeed, complained that Benn's gloves contained horse-hair instead of foam padding.

Both are perfectly legal, although horsehair gloves - which have been used for generations - are somewhat contentious. They offer less padding and therefore a punch will land heavier on the opponent.

Matchroom CEO Frank Smith said the gloves which Benn will be using had been cleared by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

Robert Smith, the General Secretary of BBBofC, was in the room and told Majeed that the gloves had indeed been approved.

Smith and Majeed continued their war of words and were separated by their teams.

  4. 'It's about time people start taking notice'published at 21:01 British Summer Time 26 April

McKenna beats Smith by unanimous decision

Aaron McKenna spoke to BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra after victory against Liam Smith: "What an experience this is. This is stuff of dreams - I finally got my opportunity and what a time to show it in front of all of these people. This has been a long time coming because I have dedicated my whole life to the sport.

"Going into this fight, a lot of big people in boxing predicted me to lose and thought I couldn't outbox Liam but I showed I could. I had a very good camp and my mindset is very strong.

"I genuinely do believe I am the best fighter in the world in the middleweight division and I keep proving it fight after fight. It's about time people start taking notice."

It's a massive night for Lyndon Arthur. Talking to him this week, something has come over him. He looks five or six years younger than he has in a long time

I think there is more pressure on [Anthony] Yarde's head than there is on Lydon Arthur's. He desperately needs to prove that he deserves a spot back on the big table and he will fight to see if he does.

Next up is the co-main event - a trilogy between British light-heavyweight rivals Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur.

Arthur won the first contest by split decision in 2020 but Yarde avenged his defeat with a statement fourth-round stoppage in 2021.

Four years later, who takes the third contest?

Thumbs up for Yarde or thumbs down for Arthur.

    Eubank v Benn

We really did not see this coming.

Chris Eubank Jr spent the majority of Thursday's news conference talking about his strained relationship with Chris Eubank Sr.

Eubank Jr opened up on the pain he was going through because of the strained relationship with his father.

"We haven't spoken for years and he thinks I'm a disgrace. These things are what pain is to me," Eubank Jr said.

Eubank Jr suggested that the opportunity to reunite with his father might come after he decides to step away from boxing.

"I think this fight, once it's over, there's a possibility that things may be able to reconcile or there's a possibility it will make our relationship even harder to rebuild," Eubank Jr told BBC Sport.

"What I do know is once I am out of boxing, then it will definitely be easier for us to rebuild what's been lost."

After the mind games from Conor Benn's team this week, how much of a mental boost will Eubank Sr's presence be?

I think Eubank snr turning up, may have won the fight for jnr. Might just be the boost he needed. Final piece of the jigsaw. I'm still team Benn though.

  11. Drama outside the dressing roompublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 26 April

    Eubank v Benn

In my second entry of this live text I said "All the drama - fingers crossed - is now behind us with the news conference and weigh-in out of the way and it's an opportunity to just sit back and enjoy a great card at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium."

I should have known that would come back to bite me.

As I mentioned in the post below, Conor Benn's team requested that Billy Joe Saunders would oversee the wrapping of Chris Eubank Jr's hands.

The broadcast has just shown a melee outside of Eubank's dressing room with Saunders being denied entry by a wall of people.

    Things are getting very interesting.

  12. Bad blood and mind gamespublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 26 April

    Eubank v Benn

Chris Eubank Jr has been playing mind games for months and it seems Conor Benn and his team have decided to accept the challenge this week.

Eubank accused Benn and his team of "derailing" his weight cut, claiming they wouldn't let him use the toilet to try drop the final 0.05lb.

There are also reports that Benn's team have requested Billy Joe Saunders to oversee Eubank's hand wrapping later on.

Saunders beat Eubank on a close decision in 2014 and they don't have much respect for each other. It's not clear if Saunders, who is not even part of Benn's team, will be allowed to take up that role, and it could just be another attempt to throw Eubank off.

There was also a dispute over boxing gloves with the two teams getting very heated - I'll leave my colleague Kal Sajad to give you a bit more information on that one in a moment.

Finally, how about a smaller ring? Tonight's contest will be in an 18-foot ring.

Fights usually take place in a 20-foot ring but Team Benn wanted a smaller one.

  13. Who won Eubank Sr vs Benn original boutpublished at 20:48 British Summer Time 26 April

    Eubank v Benn

It seems like the perfect time to send this treat your way too.

It's 35 years since this family rivalry really came to fruition with the first bout between Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn.

Eubank won - if you don't know how then I won't spoil that surprise - and they met again in 1993 as both were hoping to unify in the super-middleweight division, however, that ended in a frustration draw.

We've gone deep into the vault to dig out some highlights, so if you've got a spare four-and-a-half minutes - you're already here so I suspect you might do - then go and enjoy the all-action first encounter.

We've got more Chris Eubank Sr content coming your way but let's get back to the action for a moment.

Ireland's Aaron McKenna has just beaten former world champion Liam Smith by unanimous decision.

McKenna wanted to make a statement and I think he's just done that at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

    Eubank v Benn

Well, we are all in shock and so is most of those in the building and watching at home!

Guardian journalist Donald McRae: "The great roar that just went up when Eubank Sr stepped out with Junior was something....the old man came through. Such a contrast to the muted boos that greeted the arrival of Conor Benn an hour ago."

Boxer Chantelle Cameron: "So glad to see this."

Daily Star & Mirror journalist Chris McKenna: "Chris Eubank Sr is here. WWE style. Could have come out mid fight for maximum effect."

5 Live Boxing commentator Steve Bunce: "The Ego has landed! Chris Eubank is here. The roar was stunning."
