Mitchell McClenaghan: Lancashire return appeals to NZ paceman

Mitchell McClenaghan is hopeful of playing for Lancashire again in 2014 after a successful FLt20 campaign.

The New Zealand pace bowler took 17 wickets for the Red Rose county, who lost a thrilling quarter-final against Hampshire by one run.

"I'd love to [come back]," the 27-year-old told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"There's a sense of unfinished business in the changing room. Hopefully everyone's enjoyed having me over here and would love to have me back."

having impressed for the Kiwis in limited-overs cricket during their tour of England and then starring for the Black Caps in the ICC Champions Trophy.

He was unable to inspire Lancashire to a maiden domestic T20 title, but thoroughly enjoyed his first taste of county cricket in England.

"I've loved it and I'm gutted to be going home," added McClenaghan, who has appeared in 10 one-day internationals and eight T20 games for his country.

"Lancashire's got a fantastic setup, with the right people in the right places, and Peter Moores is an exceptional coach.

"It's an incredibly motivated and well-skilled unit. Lancashire fans should be proud of the way the guys played and excited about the future."

McClenaghan's former team-mates play three group games in the YB40 before they aim to extend their lead at the top of Division Two of the County Championship.

Fifth-placed Worcestershire are their next opponents at New Road on 22-25 August.
