    Superb from Lorcan Tucker.

He gives himself room, Liam Dawson follows him but Tucker is able to adjust and help the ball around the corner on the sweep.

Another boundary to bring up the 100 for Ireland.

Top shot! Four to end the over, back over the bowler's head from Harry Tector. Ireland have the momentum here.

David Willey would be a better replacement for Overton: gives you a left-arm option and can clear the ropes at the back end.

That's something to look forward to later, Jack. For now the young all-rounder needs to help England try and break this quickly growing stand between this talented Ireland pair.

Harry Tector is going along very nicely, while Lorcan Tucker is a lovely player to watch as well.

Five wide from Sam Curran don't help England's cause, poor ball and not great keeping from Jos Buttler either.

Another loose delivery follows. On the pads and flicked away past short fine leg by Lorcan Tucker. Four more.

It was a steady start, disappointing though, especially the Ross Adair wicket. Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker are a lot more traditional than the opening pair. They've come in and are off to a really good start.

Delighted to see Rehan at four. He's had some year and has a big future.

Not one ball from Rehan Ahmed has gone above eye level yet, he's really pushing it through.

  7. Ire 84-2published at 10 overs

More spin for England - no doubt with the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka early next year in mind - as Rehan Ahmed comes on.

His first ball is driven firmly through the covers by Harry Tector and the fielder on the boundary gets a hand to it but it's not enough to prevent four.

Nine from the over in total as we reach the halfway stage of the innings.

Having laid the foundation, now you'd expect the acceleration from Ireland.

Lorcan Tucker is the new batter for Ireland and works a single first ball.

That brings Harry Tector back on strike and he gets the slog-sweep out to hammer Adil Rashid over deep mid-wicket for six.

    Right out of the middle.

Paul Stirling just swiped it slightly, didn't go through the ball.

You can see that there was an element of anger when he was walking off there, he was set and had a chance to go big for Ireland.

Paul Stirling just needed one additional Weetabix in his breakfast this morning. A good catch there on the boundary from Will Jacks.

Adil Rashid ends Paul Stirling's fun.

Flighted delivery from Rashid and wide of off again. Stirling tries to launch it over long-on but doesn't quite get the connection he was after.

Will Jacks takes the catch right on the boundary as England's premier spinner strikes again.

Jamie Overton should be nowhere near the England squad, let alone the starting XI. Not an international standard player by any measure.

Paul Stirling has smashed this, miles over long off. Pretty poor delivery from Liam Dawson, gave him plenty of time. Stirling has just carved it over.

A wicket down but Paul Stirling is still there and going strong for Ireland.

He backs away again and clubs Liam Dawson over long-off for his third six of the innings.

Harry Tector is the new batter for the home side.

It's a Liam Dawson delivery. Ross Adair has swept it straight up and England have their first wicket.

Phil Salt didn't have that far too travel for that. What was noticeable was the loop that Liam Dawson managed to get, completely deceived Ross Adair.

    Breakthrough for England.

Tossed up by Liam Dawson, just wide of off, and Ross Adair tries to hammer it over the leg side on the slog sweep.

He doesn't quite get to the pitch, though, and the ball comes off the top edge and is comfortably taken by Phil Salt, coming off the rope at deep mid-wicket.

Classic Adil Rashid there. Goes for six off the first ball, went for eight in the end. That's really good bowling.

  20. Ire 57-0published at 7 overs

Adil Rashid, as you would expect, quickly shakes off that poor start and recovers the situation.

Just a pair of singles from the next five balls as he mixes things up, both in terms of pace and the deliveries he is sending down.
