Fire very much in rebuilding mode after losing England duo Sophia Dunkley and Tammy Beaumont early.

Laurie Evans is using the pace nicely. Tom Lawes with a 70mph bowl, clearly a slower ball, but Evans just helps it on it's way. Nice timing.

Evans has outside edged it and it has raced away to the deep third boundary.

    Evans is rocketing along!

  4. Brave 60-3published at 45 balls

    Coles 14, Evans 27

    Laurie Evans is moving now.

Three boundaries in a row - one scoop, one cut and then an outside edge as he backs away from the stumps. He's so lucky with the last one not to hit his own timbers.

Fortune favours the Brave, I guess...

This is the second time Southern Brave lost three wickets inside the powerplay. The last time this happened was back in 2022 against Superchargers. Brave lost that match.

Laurie Evans picked up the length nicely.

He hammers it over deep mid-wicket. The Southern Brave fans have come to life!

    A fantastic sequence from Evans.

  7. 6 runs

    Brave 47-3published at 40 balls

    Coles 13, Evans 15

Nailed by Laurie Evans! That's the first six of the day. Mitchell Santner's spin is cut for four a ball later too.

A much-needed boost for the Brave.

Manchester Originals left-arm fast bowler Mahika Gaur bowled 20 deliveries in the 25-ball powerplay against Welsh Fire.

This is the first time this has happened in the history of the women's competition.

  9. Brave 35-3published at 35 balls

    Coles 12, Evans 4

As Finny mentions, the greatest leg-spinner England have produced is on for his first bowl of the day. Laurie Evans and James Coles are cautious to start with, knocking Rashid for singles here and there.

Adil Rashid will give it the opportunity to spin by looping it up.

Rashid is the master of variation. It feels like Rashid could go on forever. I would say he's got a couple more years, at least.

  11. Brave 29-3published at 30 balls

As we've mentioned, Duffy has been playing for New Zealand in Zimbabwe. He played in both of their thumping wins, as did spinner Mitchell Santner. Santner concedes just the two from his first five balls of this year's competition.

Southern Brave do have power through the middle order. They have got very competent players who can pick up the pace if needed.

  13. Brave 27-3published at 25 balls

    Coles 7, Evans 1

The 25-ball powerplay is done. Jacob Duffy has bowled 15 of those deliveries, conceded 15 runs and taken three wickets. Harry Brook is having a good day.

Laurie Evans is out earlier than he'd have liked. The pitch does look a slow one.

Tom Lawes got his fingers nicely underneath it.

He didn't move and he was waiting for the carry. Luckily it goes straight into the hands.

Jacob Duffy has had a real impact coming in and replacing Mohammad Amir.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 24 balls

    Roy c Lawes b Duffy 11 (Brave 26-3)

Jacob Duffy has three! This is a remarkable start to his Hundred career.

I'm not even sure he's bowled that nicely. The wicket of Vince came with a long-hop hit to point and now Jason Roy has just picked out mid-wicket on the pull.

A very straightforward decision to field first by Northern Superchargers. In the men's Hundred at the Utilita Bowl, teams batting first have recorded the least wins of any venue – just five wins and 12 losses, with a win percentage of only 26%.

  17. Brave 25-2published at 20 balls

    Roy 11, Coles 6

James Coles has been in very good form for Hampshire this season. He even got a Hundred against Matthew Potts' Durham.

Facing just is third delivery here he sits back to smash England quick Potts through mid-wicket for four in a commanding start.

  18. Brave 19-2published at 15 balls

James Coles is off the mark early and now Matthew Potts is on for a bowl...

Such an important wicket for the Northern Superchargers.

The pace is not in the wicket to play that shot.

A gifted catch to Tom Lawes.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13 balls

    Vince c Lawes b Duffy 6 (Brave 18-2)

James Vince cannot believe what he has done! He has managed to chip a long hop from Jacob Duffy straight to the fielder at point.

The Superchargers have a second early wicket and it's a big one.
