Shubman Gill's drop of Glenn Phillips was the fourth drop from India in this match and they now have dropped 11 catches this tournament.

  2. NZ 160-4published at 37 overs

The trial by spin continues - India's seamers have only bowled seven overs so far today.

Five runs from Axar Patel's latest, one of which brings up the fifty partnership between Phillips and Mitchell.

    Another one goes down!

This is also a difficult one, but should be taken. Glenn Phillips pulls firmly out to deep square, where Shubman Gill makes good ground and has to dive to his left. He gets two hands to it but the ball bursts out as he hits the deck.

A life for each of these batters now - can they capitalise?

It's not the easiest catch that Rohit Sharma has had but he gets a hand to it.

It was high and I think it was coming harder than he thought.

A taller man would've possibly got that.

  6. dropped catch

Mitchell dropped on 38published at 35 overs

    NZ 153-4

    Oh!

Daryl Mitchell gets away with one. He tucks into a short ball from Axar Patel, but a leaping Rohit Sharma at short mid-wicket is unable to hang on.

It would've been a very good one-handed effort. Instead, the batters are able to run two.

New Zealand's batters have struggled against the accurate lines from the India spinners and have been struggling to rotate strike at regular intervals.

They have scored at just 2.6 runs per over and been dismissed four times when India's spinners have attacked the stumps.

  8. NZ 149-4published at 34 overs

Brilliant from Jadeja, giving absolutely nothing away.

Phillips and Mitchell are trying to do things differently by moving around the crease, but he strays from the stumps so rarely, they're still unable to put any pressure back on him.

  9. NZ 147-4published at 33 overs

Glenn Phillips will be key if New Zealand are going to finish this innings strongly.

If New Zealand were to continue at this rate they'd get around 220 and that won't be enough on this surface.

They need to aim to get above 250.

In this tournament, Daryl Mitchell has been striking at 114 against pace and just 53 v spin. One of the main reason is he has struggled to get going against the Indian spinners in Dubai. 83% of the deliveries faced against spin have been from the four Indian spinners.

  12. NZ 143-4published at 32 overs

Glenn Phillips' counter-attacking has taken some of the pressure off Daryl Mitchell at the other end.

Jadeja gifts him a short ball to pull firmly for four more.

How long are New Zealand prepared to stick in and let the dot balls build up?

Daryl Mitchell is 60 balls into his innings. He's probably got to be the one to try and move this along for New Zealand.

  14. NZ 138-4published at 31 overs

Having been hit for a couple of boundaries by Glenn Phillips, Kuldeep is taken out of the attack and replaced by more spin - obviously.

India are rattling through their overs very quickly.

I think a good score would be somewhere around 300 but it can be hard to judge what a wicket will do in conditions like this.

New Zealand would bite your hand off for around 270 at the moment.

  16. NZ 135-4published at 30 overs

Jadeja's sixth over passes in the blink of an eye as Phillips and Mitchell continue to settle into their partnership.

If Phillips is able to be there at the end, New Zealand should be in a decent position. It's intriguingly poised.

  17. NZ 131-4published at 29 overs

Another lovely shot from Glenn Phillips, who looks in good touch.

A little wide outside the off stump from Kuldeep, and Phillips crunches it off the back foot for four.

Nice battle brewing between these two.

It's going to be interesting how Glenn Phillips plays this.

Usually he comes in at the back end of an innings and smashes it, but there's a lot of cricket left for him to play today.

  19. NZ 126-4published at 28 overs

Jadeja whizzes through another tidy over. He's got 1-12 from five overs so far, including this crucial wicket of Tom Latham.
