When it comes to 50-over cricket India are the best team in the world.

They know how to do it. They know how to set a total or complete a chase.

    Thanks, Sam.

A quiet over from Ravindra Jadeja, just two singles ticked from it. India's spinners continue to pile on the pressure.

  3. NZ 114-4published at 25 overs

A better over for New Zealand in terms of rotating the strike as Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell combine for four singles off Varun Chakravarthy.

India still well on top, though, as I hand you over to Ffion Wynne at the halfway stage of the innings.

Because there's so much spin, India have rattled through their overs. In ODIs, we're used to being behind the over rate not in front.

India are on top, but you never know what will happen.

Glenn Phillips is in for New Zealand. How do they approach it from here?

They've been trying to tick over since losing Kane Williamson and build a platform from which to launch later in the innings.

The issue is that, as Alex says, they have struggled to rotate the strike and have just got stuck. At what point do they look to counter-attack?

That's a huge blow. New Zealand have really struggled to get settled into this spell.

As a batter, you need to take off the pressure but also put it back onto the bowler. They struggled to rotate the strike and they let the Ravindra Jadeja settle in.

Ravindra Jadeja celebrates. The celebrations from the crowd and the players says it all.

New Zealand are in trouble here. Their best player against spin has to go.

Three reds. India strengthen their grip on this final.

Tom Latham was trying to find a boundary to relieve the pressure but he missed with a sweep, the ball pitched in line and hit him plumb in front.

Ravindra Jadeja was bowling from round the wicket so perhaps Latham hoped it was sliding past off stump. Nope, going on to hit it about halfway up.

New Zealand have been going nowhere fast and find themselves in real trouble.

I think this is out. It's absolutely stone dead.

Attempted sweep from Tom Latham and he is struck in front by Ravindra Jadeja.

It looks plumb but the left-hander reviews.

  12. NZ 107-3published at 23 overs

Daryl Mitchell tries to break the shackles with a reverse sweep that runs away fine... but is still pulled in just before the boundary.

He has to settle for two and New Zealand's run-rate is now down to 4.65 an over - they were going at nearly sevens at the end of the first powerplay.

In the 13 overs since, they've scored just 38 runs.

With spinners, we often talk about if they can keep the stumps in play for as long as possible, especially on a pitch here today where it's hard to rotate the strike.

India's spinners have done that perfectly.

Indian spinners have been so accurate with their lines so far and have kept the stumps in play.

Percentage of deliveries attacking the stumps today: Axar Patel - 58%, Kuldeep - 48%, Varun Chakravarthy - 42%

  15. NZ 104-3published at 22 overs

    Latham 14, Mitchell 18

New Zealand have not scored a boundary for 52 balls. This has been very impressive stuff from the India spinners.

    Bouncing over the top.

Pitching in line, hitting in line but going over the top. India wicketkeeper KL Rahul suggested as much before the review was taken and he's proven right.

Close but India lose a review and Tom Latham survives.

  18. India reviewpublished at 21.4 overs

    NZ 104-3

India think they might have a fourth wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja gets the ball to straighten and beat Tom Latham's inside edge as the left-hander prods forward.

Given not out but they send it upstairs.

These two are trying to take the pressure off but they're struggling to rotate the strike here.

  20. NZ 102-3published at 21 overs

India continue to put the squeeze on with their spinners.

Varun Chakravarthy is through another very economical over with only a Tom Latham single from it.

New Zealand are content to just try and tick over for now but they can't allow themselves to get bogged down.
