It's that time of year when we spend perhaps more time looking up at the sky rather than down at the pitch.

Delays have already been confirmed at Trent Bridge, Headingley, Durham, Cardiff, Leicestershire and at New Road, where Worcestershire host Lancashire.

The Red Rose of course need a big win to pip Notts and escape relegation.

There's a high chance of rain around lunchtime at Taunton and Chelmsford with a possible window of play either side.

The big promotion showdown match at Hove between Sussex and Middlesex is a little more promising but rain is likely early this morning and at lunchtime.

They were inspecting at 10:00 BST, but we're still awaiting news of any delay on the south coast.

Good morning and welcome to the climax of the English domestic cricket season.

Surrey may have secured a third successive title last week, but there's still plenty at stake in the final round of the County Championship.

In Division One, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire will be battling to avoid the one remaining relegation place, after Kent's fate was sealed last week.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire and Middlesex will be gunning to replace the unfortunate side as they look to claim the second promotion place in Division Two.

And already promoted Sussex have the title to clinch.

So before we go into cricket hibernation, settle in and enjoy the last waltz.
