Hit on the pad playing back...out!

Liam Dawson strikes in his first over andArchie Vaughan goes early after the rain delay for 29.

He's been foxed by low bounce and a bit of turn from leg to middle.

WICKET: Hameed b Barnard 7published at 13:31 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 15-1 v Warwickshire

    A beauty from Ed Barnard!

Full of length, it brings Haseeb Hameed forward and straightens just enough to beat the outside edge and take out off stump.

  3. Postpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 62-3 v Hants

Four runs for Archie Vaughan, glancing a ball away to a very fine leg.

Mohammed Abbas adjusts his line and Vaughan pushes carefully forward to backward point.

Vaughan drives at a ball outside off and misses.

He's squared up by the next ball, which is edged on the back foot wide of the slips for two.

A loose drive on the back foot brings four through the vacant fourth slip.

Archie Vaughan (19*) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (22*) are back in the middle, hoping to prolong the Somerset resistance on a seaming wicket for as long as possible.

Mohammed Abbas will bowl to Vaughan.

  5. How things stand - Division Onepublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 11-0 v Warwickshire

Just a reminder of the table heading into this round of fixtures.

A Lancashire win at Worcestershire would put Notts or Warwickshire in danger of going down.

  6. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 10-0 v Warwickshire

Notts opener Ben Slater cuts Ed Barnard behind point to open his account.

There are some beefy looking showers heading towards Trent Bridge, but thankfully they're on the field for the moment.

So bored of talking about the weather.

  7. Play to begin at 13:55 BST at New Roadpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 26 September

Worcestershire v Lancashire - start delayed, rain

Some good news for Lancashire fans... play will start in 40 minutes in this must win game for the Red Rose county.

Assuming there is no more rain...

  8. 13:20 BST restart at Tauntonpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 52-3 v Hants

    The covers are coming off.

We're back with this game in five minutes if the rain does the decent thing and stay away.

As it stands - 73 overs left today. Tea at 15:30.

  9. Play at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 0-0 v Warwickshire

We have some cricket in the afternoon session!

Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater are in the middle for Notts, Olly Hannon-Dalby will take the new ball for the Bears.

One of these sides could still go down.

  10. No play on Day One at Hovepublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 26 September

    Sussex v Middlesex

This is a huge game for Middlesex, who need to win emphatically and hope Yorkshire slip up against Northants in Leeds for promotion to Division One.

But it will have to wait until tomorrow. The outfield is waterlogged.

    Play abandoned for today.

  11. Delayed at Tauntonpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 52-3 v Hants

Rain forced the players off the field before midday and prompted an early lunch at 12:15 BST.

The covers are still on but it isn't raining currently.

Hopeful for more play this afternoon.

  12. Close of play at Cardiffpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 26 September

    Glamorgan v Gloucs

A second match falls victim to the weather as play is abandoned for day one at Cardiff without a ball yet bowled.

The skippers will be out for the toss at 10am tomorrow.

  13. 'Gregory's masterplan in serious danger'published at 12:55 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 52-3 v Hants

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset captain Lewis Gregory would have known that he was taking a big risk when he elected to bat, after winning the toss.

In conditions tailor-made for Hampshire’s vastly experienced seam attack of Kyle Abbott and Muhammad Abbas.

His reasoning? Having picked Shoaib Bashir to bowl alongside Jack Leach for the first time in the Championship, the game plan is to spin Hampshire to their doom.

But that also depends on scoring good first-innings runs, and that element of the plan hasn’t worked out so well, with Tom Lammonby, Andy Umeed and Tom Abell all out early on.

Archie Vaughan has hung in grittily and Tom Kohler-Cadmore has started brightly but, when the players went off for rain at 11.30 BST, it was Hampshire who were much the happier team, with Gregory’s master plan in serious danger of coming apart at the seams.

  14. Inspection planned at Headingleypublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 26 September

    Yorks v Northants

    At 13:10 BST.

IF it isn't raining at that point.

It's looking grey out there, plus there was a lot of rain in Leeds last night - so there are bound to be concerns about the state of the outfield.

  15. Inspection at New Road at 13:00 BSTpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs v Lancs

Lancashire need to win to stand any chance of staying up, but their hopes have been frustrated so far by a wet outfield.

There is at last a glimmer of hope as the umpires have announced an inspection at 1pm.

A 1pm inspection is also due at Grace Road where Leicestershire are taking on Derbyshire in an East Midlands derby.

  17. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 26 September

    Essex 116-1 v Surrey

    No, no, no, no!

Not entirely sure if it's rain or bad light - could be either - but the players are taken from the field and that will be a slightly early lunch.

The sunshine has given way to threatening skies and spots of rain.

It's been a great recovery from Essex who lost Robin Das - to Tom Lawes - in the second over with the score on four.

But Dean Elgar (54) and Tom Westley (52) have put on 112 and laid a nice platform.

  18. Delay continues at New Roadpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs v Lancs

As Ged just mentioned, we have had some sunshine at New Road but overnight rain has given the ground staff plenty to worry about on the outfield.

    No play before lunch.

  19. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 26 September

    Essex 116-1 v Surrey

Harsh to call that a drop - it would have been a worldie.

Yousef Majid comes close to his first-ever first-class wicket as an arm ball flies off an edge from Den Elgar, on 53.

A diving Dom Sibley almost takes it one-handed at slip, but juggles it and can;t cling on at the second attempt.

  20. Scheduled start of 13:10 BST at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts v Warwickshire

    Early lunch at Trent Bridge.

Toss at 12:40 BST and start half an hour later.

    This is all weather permitting.
