Simon Mahon on X: It would be heroic if Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey played career-defining innings and won it from here.

Nat Sciver-Brunt is known for how hard she hits the ball and that has raced away. She picked the slower ball from Nadine de Klerk and played her like a spinner.

50 up for England with a quite lovely boundary from Nat Sciver-Brunt, down on one knee and sweeping Nadine de Klerk. Far and away the best shot of England's innings.

Seven from the over. De Klerk has 0-20 from three overs.

Alice Capsey is playing a decent hand to stick around with Nat Sciver-Brunt. She is getting a few streaky boundaries.

It will be interesting to see how England play the South Africa spinners.

  7. Eng 42-3published at 11 overs

    Target 320

Well, after a slighly expensive over from Nadine de Klerk - eight runs, including a boundary from Alice Capsey, South Africa do indeed turn to spin.

    What can Nonkululeko Mlaba do?

There will be no respite for England when South Africa turn to spin. South Africa’s spinners have taken 18 wickets at a average of 21 - the second lowest average for any team’s spinners in the competition.

The next hour will show if England have progressed at all since Charlotte Edwards took over. If Nat Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey, supported by Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt-Hodge can fight back, then who knows.

    Sciver-Brunt 17, Capsey 15

The positives: from 1-3, England have recovered to 34-3 at the end of the powerplay.

The negatives: South Africa were 58-0 at the same stage, England need 286 runs from 40 overs, and the required rate is above seven.

There is always a slim hope when Nat Sciver-Brunt is at the crease. She is timing the ball nicely and getting behind it.

She knows how to build an innings.

  12. Eng 29-3published at 9 overs

    Target 320

Nat Sciver-Brunt drives through cover for four. Lovely shot.

Later in the over, wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta goes up rather noisily for a possible caught behind against the England skipper. She's pretty much the only person in the ground who's interested.

This England side is so different compared to January. They are winning games now that they would have lost a year ago.

The fielding has been great throughout and they have produced some excellent death bowling.

  14. Eng 24-3published at 8 overs

    Target 320

Alice Capsey picks up her second boundary of the day, gobbling up a wide delivery from Ayabonga Khaka and sending it through point.

England have got to bat and have a partnership. You have to see Marizanne Kapp out but also get runs from somewhere.

If this was Australia however, you would still say there is a game on.

  16. Eng 20-3published at 7 overs

    Target 320

Ooooh hooo that was close and Marizanne Kapp knows it! She nearly gets the edge of Nat Sciver-Brunt's bat as she swishes and misses at a wider delivery. Kapp stares the batter down.

The streaky four that Sciver-Brunt picks up with an edge through third later in the over will have angered the bowler.

Stuart Mitchell on X: Congratulations South Africa on your first World Cup final. Go well against India or Australia. As for the England women...1-3! Start again after this World Cup and ditch the old guard.

  19. Eng 15-3published at 6 overs

    Target 320

There's a sharp intake of breath as Alice Capsey flashes the ball in the air and just out of reach of the flying fielder at point.

Next ball, Nat Sciver-Brunt plays a classy drive through the covers for four.
