There was a gap between the bat and the pad and it went right through.

Watching it back, Amy Jones' front foot doesn't move at all.

Marizanne Kapp punches both fists, roars, and stares down Amy Jones as she leaves the field.

She's bowled the England wicketkeeper for a duck with the second ball of the innings. Uh oh.

    Ominous stats from Rufus...

The players are coming back out. Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont will start England's chase of 320. Marizanne Kapp will open the bowling for South Africa.

Let's have some fun - thumbs up for an England win, thumbs down for South Africa.

This would be the second highest chase in a WWC, after Australia v India in the group stage.

England have never successfully chased more than 264 in an ODI.

They have scored over 264 on 14 occasions in the second innings, but have never won.

But so far, the match has been all about Laura Wolvaardt.

The South Africa captain scored 169 from 143 balls, including 20 fours and four sixes, and not only anchored her side's innings but was central to their late acceleration, scoring 68 from 27 from the 40th over onwards.

South Africa were put into bat after losing the toss but were much improved compared to when they were bowled out for 69 by England at this ground earlier the tournament.

Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits put on 116 runs for the first wicket before South Africa briefly wobbled, Sophie Ecclestone striking twice in four balls as they slipped from 116-0 to 119-3.

However, they avoided the batting collapses which have plagued them throughout the tournament, with Marizanne Kapp playing a handy 42 (33) before South Africa kicked into fifth gear in the final 10 overs.

From 202-5 after 40 overs, they posted 319-7.

I wouldn't read too much into a high five, Robin.

Right, let's recap South Africa's innings, shall we?

Why are the England players high fiving each other? They’ve just conceded a match winning total - nothing to be pleased about.

South Africa's Tazmin Brits: "I am glad I witnessed a knock like that. From both of myself and Laura, it was very good.

"We wanted to go with more intent in the first overs. We wanted to be positive and take the pressure off. It is definitely a batting wicket but hopefully the ball might move low later."

On the chase: "We need to stick to basics with line and length and hug the stumps as much as possible.

"We took the wicket and said it was a 270 wicket so we are chuffed with our total."

Thanks Sam. I'm holding you responsible for the chaos which happened in the second half of South Africa's innings.

They'd just lost two wickets and were 119-2 when I handed over control...

  13. England need 320 to winpublished at 12:58 GMT 29 October

What a performance from South Africa and Laura Wolvaardt. The Proteas could not really have done much more.

England didn't bowl badly for much of the innings but did lose their way during Wolvaardt's onslaught late on.

With a World Cup final on the line, they have to back themselves to chase this down - now would be a good time for Nat Sciver-Brunt special.

While everyone takes a moment to catch their breath, I'll hand over to Elizabeth Botcherby.

South Africa are so impressive. It has been all about Laura Wolvaardt - she should be getting all of the praise.

England are well under the pump now. This is a huge total to be chasing down in a knockout game.

Just a single from the last but a very good innings for South Africa.

England will require their highest ever successful chase in women's ODIs to reach the World Cup final.

It's a brilliant pitch to bat on but has a magnificent century from Laura Wolvaardt put this game beyond them?

One ball left in the innings. Lauren Bell has bowled well in her last couple of overs but she can't stop Nadine de Klerk moving across her stumps and managing to get the ball over Amy Jones' head for four with a streaky top edge.

What a shot from Chloe Tryon. It's a shovel over extra cover.

South Africa are having too much fun. This will be a tough chase for England.

But you have to believe at the halfway stage. It's a flat surface, no demons in it, and South Africa have gone with the extra batter.
