India were dead and buried. They were down in the field and that has given them a little bit of hope.

In some ways this situation might help Jacob Bethell. He has Joe Root there to help him through. He can view it like a white-ball game.

A fabulous knock by Harry Brook. What a strange way of ending it.

Charging down the wicket and the bat comes out of his hands - that's given India half a sniff.

Why play that? Rush of blood.

    Here's the twist.

Harry Brook had decided it was time to hit for home and swings hard again. Somehow his bat flies from his hand, the ball skews into the air and India take the catch, just as their hopes were fading.

Brook takes the applause for a brilliant knock which has taken England within sight of the finish line.

Four more through the leg side to Brook as he hacks at Akash Deep's tired seam. It has not been a good few minutes for Deep.

England have managed to turn it into a one day game by manipulating and manoeuvring. Joe Root is a master of that.

Joe Root and Harry Brook have sucked the life out of this Indian side.

    Root 83, Brook 103

It's a tired over from Mohammed Siraj and, with less bite in the deliveries, when Root gets one a little edgily it goes away for four through backward point. Root probably opened the face of the bat too.

    81 runs to win.

I’m currently sitting across the road from the Crown in Chalgrove (at the Red Lion for reference)… I’m torn between moving across the road for the next pint to listen to Jo’s dulcet tones (@15:05), or staying put for the good of English cricket!

Well done Harry Brook. I might get a takeaway out of this!

Off comes the helmet to celebrate. The Oval crowd rises,

Now back to finishing the job...

That's Harry Brook's first fourth-innings century and his 10th in total.

It doesn't get much better than that. What an innings from Harry Brook.

To do it in the situation against an Indian side that has been quite chirpy in the last few games.

Harry himself has had plenty to say. India dominated the game and Harry's produced an innings to make England clear favourites now with some incredible stroke play.

He took a risk and had a bit of fortune, but England had to try something.

Wheels off. Wheels well and truly off.

Akash Deep has too casually tried to stop the ball with his boot. He did the job initially but it bounces up, hits his right leg and bobbles away onto the boundary.

The crowd loves it. Shubman Gill does not. Brook to 98 not out.

India look like a side that are beaten.

They don't look like a team that are thinking, 'We have still got 95 to play with'.

This probably isn't the time to ask about sloth tours, is it? I'm going to have to let that one go.

Full toss from Jadeja - that ball is getting wet and slippy in the rain. Joe Root whacks it for four.
