  3. Ind 436-6published at 116 overs

Josh Tongue, bowling consistently above 85mph, tries a bit of short stuff to Washington Sundar but he stands firm.

India have made a habit of losing wickets in the 15 minutes before lunch in this series, with six wickets falling for just 50 runs scored (Avg 8.33).

In the first hour and three quarters of the morning session it has been a different story, however, with 383 runs scored for the loss of four wickets across the series (Avg 95.75).

  5. Ind 435-6published at 115 overs

England bring the fielders in for Washington Sundar but he gets off strike with a single off the second ball of the over.

Jamie Smith throws his hands in the air as Shubman Gill is struck on his front pad while attempting a reverse sweep. It's a half-hearted appeal. He hasn't had many to shout about today.

Surely this discussion about part-time bowlers is the perfect opportunity to show us Sir Alastair's sole Test wicket again!

The bare minimum for India is 500 with five remaining. They'll hope to get another session or so out. Akash Deep can also bat a bit.

In a dream world, they'll be pushing for 600 with the way England can bat.

  8. Ind 433-6published at 114 overs

Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar pick up two singles apiece, with the latter retaining the strike.

Gill is unbeaten on 178 from 296. At lunch, Michael Vaughan gave his assessment of the India captain's innings so far.

That is so good from Shubman Gill. That gap between extra cover and mid-off is so fine and Gill finds it effortlessly.

  11. Ind 429-6published at 113 overs

Shubman Gill continues his serene scoring with a gentle drive through a gap in the field for four.

Seven runs from Shoaib Bashir's 29th over.

Washington Sundar is all at sea at the moment. He hasn't really played anything with a lot of confidence.

There's encouragement for Josh Tongue as England search for their seventh wicket.

Anon’s message is referring back to this morning’s many calls for Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, or even Zak Crawley to be introduced into the bowling attack.

I remember being at Old Trafford a couple of years ago. Lancashire used nine bowlers in Somerset’s second innings, with Josh Bohannon taking over as wicketkeeper as Dane Vilas and George Bell decided to have a bowl. Vilas bowled 11 overs that day and given he only bowled 78 balls in his entire career, I feel privileged to have seen so many.

A single and a no-ball from Josh Tongue's first over after the interval.

Everyone descends in for the new batter. All the England fielders are on the attack.

  16. Ind 420-6published at 111 overs

It's a skittish start from Washington Sundar.

Shubman Gill takes a single off the first ball and after two dots, Sundar looks for a run and gets a few steps down before being ordered back.

Joe Root sends the ball in from mid-wicket but Sundar is safe. Just. That wouldn't have been an ideal start.

Right, the players are back out at a sunny Edgbaston.

India are 419-6, with Shubman Gill on 168 (288) and Washington Sundar on 1 (11).

Shoaib Bashir will bowl the first over after lunch.

England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will miss the third T20 against India at The Oval on 4 July with a left groin injury.

The all-rounder will undergo a scan to determine her availability for the remainder of the series.

Tammy Beaumont will captain the side in her absence, with Hampshire batter Maia Bouchier called up the squad as cover.

It was a good session from both the teams, England will be pleased with that wicket of Ravindra Jadeja.

Shubman Gill and Jadeja had the perfect partnership but, at this stage, I still feel the game is very well balanced. India will be aiming for 500 and this partnership is the last big partnership on their team.

There's a lot of responsibility on Gill and Washington Sundar to build after lunch. You can't go for 450 on this pitch, if you have the opportunity to get 500 you have to take it.

How many runs with Shubman Gill add to his tally in the second session? Can he carry India beyond 500?

    They're 419-6 after 110 overs.
