    Kerr c Brits b Mlaba 43 (NZ 141-5)

Ah! Melie Kerr's fun is over.

She tries to find the boundary for the third time in the over but chips it straight into the hands of Tazmin Brits at deep mid-wicket.

Kerr swishes her bat in frustration as she departs, annoyed that she cannot finish the innings after all her hard work.

South Africa will feel that things just aren't going their way. There is a different energy to New Zealand tonight; the twos have been coming, they have been taking singles when they can. There's a license for these two to just hit everything now.

  4. NZ 139-4published at 18.2 overs

    Hello!

Melie Kerr has had enough of anchoring the innings. She pulls Nonkululeko Mlaba for four before lofting another over mid-off with glorious timing.

She moves to 41 from 36 balls.

  5. NZ 131-4published at 18 overs

That was a well-deserved wicket for Chloe Tryon too, who finishes her four overs with 1-22.

Anneke Bosch made no mistake. South Africa haven't been great in their disciplines, a few fumbles in the field, but they were never going to drop that. Brooke Halliday was looking extremely dangerous, so what a time to get her out.

    Halliday c Bosch b Tryon 38 (NZ 127-4)

Brooke Halliday's valuable cameo comes to an end.

She tries to whack the first six of the day but picks out Anneke Bosch at deep square leg, who takes a comfortable catch in the end as it was coming hard and flat towards her.

Halliday departs for 38 from 28 balls. Could that prove to be a match-winner?

  8. NZ 125-3published at 17 overs

The free hit only costs a single, but it's a rare wicketless day for Marizanne Kapp.

She finishes her four overs with 0-25.

  9. NZ 119-3published at 16.1 overs

South Africa are up against it.

Marizanne Kapp starts her final over with another no-ball.

This is how surprised some of the South Africa players were that the review to dismiss Sophie Devine turned out the way it did.

  11. NZ 117-3published at 16 overs

No boundaries from Ayabonga Khaka's third over but New Zealand still take seven from it.

Melie Kerr is anchoring the innings expertly with a run-a-ball 29 which is taking all of the pressure off Halliday to play her own game - she has 31 from 21.

This is a great cameo from Brooke Halliday, considering we were worried about the batting middle order. I love New Zealand's intent, it is reminding me of their game against India where they just came out and batted freely. It is working today and this partnership has certainly changed things dramatically.

That's a poor over from Nadine de Klerk but she struck with the crucial wicket of Sophie Devine following a solo appeal for this lbw which was eventually overturned.

Melie Kerr lofts the free hit over mid-off for four!

In an innings full of twists and turns, New Zealand take charge once more.

New Zealand have struggled to find the boundary. It's not their intention, they've just struggled to do it. It is very humid out there so whether that has something to do with it.

But this game is bubbling up now and New Zealand look like they are on a bit of a charge.

  16. NZ 106-3published at 14.5 overs

This is turning into a valuable little cameo from Brooke Halliday here.

She cuts Nadine de Klerk for four more to move to 26 from 17 balls and then the bowler oversteps!

    A free hit...

  17. NZ 99-3published at 14.1 overs

    That's more like it.

A fantastic bit of relay fielding from Anneke Bosch and Tazmin Brits denies Melie Kerr a precious boundary.

  18. NZ 97-3published at 14 overs

Finally, Brooke Halliday breaks the shackles with a back-to-back fours.

The left-hander slog sweeps through mid-wicket before Nadine de Klerk misjudges the second at long-on, somewhat gifting the boundary.

    Much-needed momentum for New Zealand.

Laura Wolvaardt is not a formulaic captain at all. She goes off gut feeling and usually just goes with her instincts in the game. I thought we may see Marizanne Kapp bowling again, but it is a good idea to bring Suné Luus on here against Melie Kerr.

  20. NZ 85-3published at 13 overs

Brooke Halliday miscues a sweep but she gets away with it as the ball plops in a vacant gap on the leg side.

This has been a brilliant middle-overs squeeze from South Africa. The last boundary was 44 balls ago.
