  1. NZ 79-3published at 12 overs

Sune Luus rattles through a good over for just five runs as Kerr and Halliday look to steady the ship.

If both are still there with three overs to go, New Zealand will be in a decent position.

This is really going to test the lower order of the New Zealand batting line-up. This will be a crucial partnership. Melie Kerr is an experienced batter but it will be up to Brooke Halliday to put some impetus in and get some boundaries.

  3. NZ 74-3published at 11 overs

Brooke Halliday gets off the mark with a clip off her pads for three as De Klerk strays down the leg side.

The wicket of Devine is a huge one for South Africa but they can't afford to let their discipline slip. New Zealand have shown they have got plenty of gritty finishers in their side.

Devine lbw b De Klerk 6 (NZ 70-3)

    Never in doubt!

Sophie Devine was very far back in her crease, which must've been why Nadine de Klerk was so interested.

It's hitting leg stump and South Africa release a shriek of delight. Laura Wolvaardt looks very relieved that she listened to her bowler there.

  5. SA reviewpublished at 10.2 overs

Nadine de Klerk is the only one to appeal for this lbw on Sophie Devine.

It looks rather high and Laura Wolvaardt looks completely unconvinced before eventually sending it upstairs with seconds to spare.

New Zealand came out with a bang but South Africa have started to bring it back.

At the start of the game we said it was 50/50, I think it still looks like that.

  8. NZ 70-2published at 10 overs

It's been a bit shabby from South Africa in terms of their discipline so far.

Chloe Tryon has bowled an economical spell of three overs for 17, but that over does include their seventh wide.

New Zealand are well-set for a big finish at the halfway mark.

Nonkululeko Mlaba now has 11 wickets in this tournament, just one behind Melie Kerr who will surely have a huge role to play later on.

  10. NZ 62-2published at 9 overs

But Kapp is unable to find the breakthrough, with just the three singles taken as Kerr and Devine settle in.

One of the most pleasing things about this tournament has been the crowds.

After the location change we were unsure of what it was going to be like but it's been great.

There's a great atmosphere in here tonight.

This tournament has been so much better than we expected.

  13. NZ 57-2published at 8.1 overs

Knowing this is such a key partnership, Laura Wolvaardt turns back to her strike bowler in Marizanne Kapp.

That was a big wicket for South Africa taking Suzie Bates.

  15. NZ 57-2published at 8 overs

Three wides in that over from Mlaba despite the wicket, as she appears to be struggling to grip the ball in the humidity.

Captain Sophie Devine is with Melie Kerr in the middle for New Zealand.

Well bowled by Nonkululeko Mlaba. She's been really good at changing the pace this tournament and she's fired that one through.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7.4 overs

    Bates b Mlaba 32 (NZ 53-2)

    Huge!

Nonkululeko Mlaba makes the breakthrough as once again, Bates tries to move around her crease and manipulate the ball into the leg side. But Mlaba sees her moving, throws it fuller, and strikes.

I've loved this start. It feels that New Zealand have said: "Let's leave no stone unturned and just go for it, that's what they're doing."

I just love the energy out there.

  20. NZ 50-1published at 7 overs

Another tidy, boundary-less over from Chloe Tryon but Bates and Kerr are showing their impressive fitness levels here, scampering between the wickets to still take seven from the over.
