    Glamorgan 424 v Northants 185 & 222-7 - Northants trail by 17

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Northants have battled hard on day three after starting 190 runs behind, with the visitors looking set to at least avoid the innings defeat although they have now lost Saif Zaib for 71, caught at slip off James Harris after a battling knock.

Captain Luke Procter played a solid and lengthy innings of 56 off 131 balls before Asitha Fernando had him caught behind, adding 64 with Zaib for the sixth wicket.

Zaib started brightly but moved down a gear in a gentle half-century partnership with the obdurate Lewis MacManus, on a ground where the wicketkeeper knocked up 168 not out last year.

Still likely to be a three-day finish, but Glamorgan have been forced to work for it.

  7. 'Somerset ought to win but you never know...'published at 15:52 British Summer Time

    Tea: Somerset 338 & target 150 v Sussex 152 & 335 f/o

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset at Taunton

A battling innings of 82 not out from their skipper John Simpson has given Sussex just a sniff.

In partnerships of 66 with James Coles, 78 with Fynn Hudson-Prentice and 44 with Ollie Robinson, he kept the Somerset bowlers at bay for the better part of four hours.

It took Matt Henry with the new ball to make the crucial breakthrough when he sent Hudson-Prentice's off stump cart-wheeling, although it was Jack Leach who took the final wicket, having Robinson caught at slip, to finish with 4/51.

On a flat pitch, Somerset ought to knock off the 150 they need without too much trouble, but with this collapse-prone Somerset top order, you never know.

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's still a big job on the hands of Yorkshire here.

They've just got to stick in there.

It's been some good fielding from a Surrey point of view, especially in the slips.

Foakes, as always, has been very good behind the sticks.
